Fathers Day Poem

A woman gives recognition and thanks to her dad for taking her to the place she is today. She knows it wasn't easy, and is very grateful that her daddy didn't give up on her.

Daddys Girl

Quiet as you are, I always knew
You were watching me, loving me, all the years through

Hard as it was at times, I am sure;
You were there for me, even when you felt like showing me the door

Through all of the years and the laughter and tears
I was happy to know there was a place I had no fears

That place was home with you and Mom,
where everything was safe and I could be calm

For years I was trouble, and for that I regret
A trillion million sorrys haven't covered it yet

I am all grown now, and have finally found my way
All that you've given me, I could never repay

Hopefully seeing that I'm safe and sound
And knowing the wonderful husband and life I found

Will make you rest easy, as you hadn't in the past, and you'll be happy in knowing that this time it will last

So on this day I celebrate you...
My wonderful Father and the greatest Dad too!!

  • Generally, my times with my Papa had always been great. Even though, we didn't have much, I still could see how he tried his best to put us into a comfortable life. He tried everything to satisfy our daily needs although sometimes he failed for he would come home without any sales from his daily bread...selling insurance policies. But that didn't stop me from loving him...in fact, he would always patch up the things that he could not provide such as being always there when we needed him most...being our confidante when somebody hurt us...functioning as "mother" and father at the same time when Mama is required to work...God knows how I missed my Papa...He would always be the best Father next to God. And now that I am married, I'm glad that the Lord above has given me another great father to my kids...Happy Fathers'' Day to all the great dads out there!!!
