Getting Through A Tough Time

As a newly divorced mother of a teenager, I am going through a difficult change, trying to pick myself up and start all over again. Although this is a change I needed, it is quite challenging and scary for me at the moment. We all go through times like this every now and again but it can feel lonely whenever we do. At times like this, it often helps to be reminded that we can find the strength to get through this and even thrive against all odds. I hope my poem does this for its readers.

Child, stand strong holding your head up high,
Believe me, your life path is far from over,
For a moment, you may wince in wrenching pain and cry,
Not knowing you'll soon find your own four-leafed clover.

Child, be brave for this too shall end,
The darkness you see now you need to face,
Have courage and embrace strength like a friend,
Every journey you take has its time and place.

Child, your heart is pounding your thoughts racing,
You can't help questioning both God and man,
you've thrown out the dreams you've been chasing,
But, all you may just need is a new plan.

Child, take a deep breath and let it flow,
The time will come when it all goes your way,
For now, just allow your resilience to grow,
I promise you, you'll get through the day.
