Brother Poem

Not a brother by birth but a brother by right

Proud To Call....

© Slim Deuce
Every morning as I wake up I think of you,
as the hero that came into my life.
More and more you appeared to me when I was in strife.
Afraid I could not live without you in my life.
I only prayed every day and every night.
to have a brother like you by my side.
When I was hurt so many times.
you never let me down.
therefore I am proud.
to call you a true brother.
Even though I know you're not a child of my mother.
To me you'll always be.
Remembered you see.
As Mecca the person who saved my life.
forever the memory will seem right.

  • I know the feeling you feel. I have a brother by choice but not by birth. this guy who is 12 years older than me I'm 14 he's one of my old friends older brother. then he grew to me as a brother. but he had moved away to a different state he was a true brother to me because he would always treat me like a person not a teen but as a person. he was there when I needed help, he was there for when I needed to talk to someone. he was always there. he's not my brother by blood but he'll forever be my brother by spirit

  • Well your poem reminded me of my brother. Yes its true that every brother doesn't need to be from our own mothers blood. I have this guy who is 2 yrs older then me.....and should say he means a lot to me. though we aren't together right now.... I'm in in US and he is in some other country...very far from here. but still he remains in my heart and his one sentence has touched me "Relations are not what we have, its what we make."

    loved your poem. awesome.:)

  • I agree not every brother may share the same mother. He's been there for the heart breaks, the laughs, the cancer test, and grad. He's cried with me, laughed with me, and fought with me. We've screamed and fussed, hugged and cried, and tripped and laughed. He's picked my drunk butt up at parties, scared away losers, and held me once I was broken and left by my husband. The day I realized that I couldn't live without this guy in my life and I needed him more than anything as my brother was the day my husbands letter came in to say he was leaving me. The only person I'd let in was him the only person that could calm me down was he, the only person to stop my tears was he. My brother, My bubba, MY backbone he may not be my brother from my mother but he is my brother by soul. We were meant to find each other to help each other and stand by each other through thick and thin.

  • This poem made me cry like a child, I live in India but my brother lives in United States. Of course he is not my blood brother. He is nine years elder to me, even we never spent much time together, but never felt it so, he was always there in time of my shame, loneliness, embarrassment. He always inspired me, encouraged me, loved me, cared for me..my thoughts for him is totally reflected in this poem! I just adore this poem! Memories of him flowed in me, the first meet, first hug , first smile and even last wave to me.
