Daughter Death Poem

Life Continues Even When You're Gone

I lost my daughter to a brain tumor on November 29, 2012. I wanted to share a poem that represented how I felt, but I was having difficulty finding the right fit. This poem is about how she continues to live on through my memories that I have and share, and the sorrow that is still there.

When I Speak

When I speak your name,
It still brings music to my ears,
And I can still see your smile
As if heaven is so near.

When I speak your name,
It brings back memories
Of you dancing for joy
Or maybe playing with a toy.

When I speak your name,
It's because you no longer can,
And I want the world to know
What a goof I had.

When I speak your name,
It still brings me tears,
And I wish I could hold you
For oh so many years.
