Baby Poem

I have never written a poem before in my life and I did this for the love I have for Brooklyn my love and new joy in life. Daddy's Number One.

Brooklyn's Smile

© Steven James Wolfe
You finished your bottle and got burped and changed,
A normal routine you've done day after day,
In my arms you fell asleep with me sitting still in the rocking chair,
Scared to make a move I knew you'd wake in despair.

I watched a little face sleeping in my arms,
watching you breathe and moan as I kept you safe,
that is all that matters to me.

I watched a little face sleeping in my arms,
I wondered of the sweet lil' dream you were having,
and from the look of your eyes fluttering the Angels were playing there,
Your little mouth smiling and widening so,
I just hope you are as happy as you make me,
holding you in my arms.

I watched a little face sleeping in my arms,
holding on to your small right hand in mine,
four little fingers closed tight in a fist as the fifth one hung on to mine.

I watched a little face sleeping in my arms,
and as I began to rock slowly in the dim lights and shadows,
I thanked God above for his love and the protection of the Angels around Brooklyn Christina Dunn,
Daddy's Number One.
