Funeral Poem

Funeral Poem For Niece Who Died From Cancer

I wrote this poem for my niece Penny. Penny was a beautiful woman who lost her nine year struggle with cancer in December 2011. Our family will never forget her; she was truly an inspiration to all of us. She loved her family so much and was especially close to her twin sister.

I have gone beyond the rainbow
To my heavenly home above
Please don't shed a tear for me
Remember me with love

I didn't want to leave you
It was my time to go
I love you all so very much
And I just want you to know

When you see a rainbow
Stretched across the sky
You will know for certain
That I am close by

You will see me in the butterflies
That brighten up your day
You will hear my voice in birdsong
As you walk along your way

I will send a lovely angel
To sit with you at night
When you feel sad and lonely
She will hold you oh so tight

I will greet you with each sunrise
As you begin each new day
At night I'll be there with you
When you kneel down to pray

You will miss me, but remember
I live deep within your heart
Until the day you join me
And we never more will part

Good night, see you in the morning
