You weren't around to help me out.
You left my life without any doubts.
You were never around to help me out,
You were always the one who would shout.
Violence was the answer for you,
Well guess what?
I'm growing up to be just like you.
I always wanted you around but no matter how hard I tried you would just make me cry.
Father of mine you're not a man.
To this day I won't forgive you.
I have grown strong and I have been through a lot
but none of my strength comes from you
because you're someone who NEVER came through

I believe that a father should always be there. My father never was there for me and I don't think he ever will be. The poems above made me shed more tears thinking about my father. I hope not all men are like mine because a father can have children but many kids do not have a real father. So I don't and neither do other people. That is why this poem is so touching to me.

I am 40 years old, you would think that not having my Father in my life wouldn't bother me anymore. But it does! Every time I've met him (total of 2), was because I found HIM, and then he never continued to pursue the relationship. Recently, he added me on Facebook, I guess just for me to see him at my half-siblings kids' games, etc.? A constant slap in the face! I wrote him a letter and then blocked them. I forgive him, but I cannot stand by and pretend we have something that we don't.

I like this poem a lot. I wouldn't say I hate my dad [except right now I do], it's just that we get in fights a lot and all he ever does is yell at me and stuff. I'm 13 right now, and all my life he's been with me, but he's never really cared to show up to Parent-Teacher Conferences with me and my mom, meet my friends or their parents, or bring me places I wanna go just for fun. It's been 13 years, and all of a sudden he wants to be a part of my life. It's really hard on me, and this poem pretty much explains how I feel. Thanks!(:

this poem really touched me because my father promised me so many times when he was in jail and now he just lied to me and he kept on making promises and never came through, so I hate him so much but I do kind of miss him.
