Grandfather Death Poem

He is not my grandfather but he treated me as a grandson.....and ever since I grew up with him I called him my grandfather...I am 17 now, he died a few weeks ago

A Grandfather At His Best

© Ralph
Since the day you went away
it’s got harder and harder

Seems like yesterday
that we were together.
Then I opened my eyes
to realize you were gone forever.

It will slice our heart away
To know you’re not here with us
for the rest of our lives

Family parties and dinners
won’t be the same
cause you won’t be there

There's going to be that empty chair
Near that dinner table.
Where it’s going to be empty and cold

You are a man that gave us
inspiration and courage
to achieve our goals, you
told us our rights from wrong
and most of all you put others before you

You’re not going to be with
Us, but you will be forever in our hearts.
It’s going to feel like we are
Together, but apart.
