Poem On The Fleeting Nature Of Life

So fleeting is this thing called life, we journey toward its end,
experiencing pieces of a puzzle we don't truly comprehend.

The hues of our emotion paint a picture of our past,

So fleeting is this thing called life, we journey toward its end,
experiencing pieces of a puzzle we don't truly comprehend.

The hues of our emotion paint a picture of our past,
as we hurtle toward a destiny that is not meant to last.

Youth a canvas all in white, not knowing what awaits,
feel caresses of a brush that which we know as fate.

Love so very true in reds, that beat within our heart,
shadows black take form as hate, which tears the soul apart.

Greens of joy and happiness, lush grass beyond compare,
sadness, shrouded depths of blue, the waters of despair.

Yellow screams of agony and pain which we endure.
Guilt and shame are shades of grey, a torrential downpour.

Earthy brown desires are that for which we lust,
the loss of which comes with age, like chrome begins to rust.

The image changing constantly as time plods slowly on,
taking shape in many forms, as the twilight replaces dawn.

We look into a mirror for the answers which we seek,
but we find no consolation as our eyes grow dim and weak.

The final touches on a painting created with much love,
as we realize that the destination is the gallery above...

I'm sitting here alone, my thoughts within the past,
Thinking about you, a love I hoped would last.
Your warm and tender heart that seems so far away,
This yearning deep inside me that I must obey.

This yearning deep inside me that I must obey.

Please don't leave me here alone; you must understand
That a lost love is like footsteps in the sand.
So, kiss my soul just one more time; that's all I ask of you.
And heal my heart that aches for you, as only you can do.

The truth is all I want to know; I seek it in your eyes,
But the only thing I see is that the truth is full of lies.
Hold me now; I feel my soul slowly fade away.
Let me know you love me too; your heart I won't betray.

Please don't leave me here alone; you must understand
That a lost love is like footsteps in the sand.
So, kiss my soul just one more time; that's all I ask of you.
And heal my heart that aches for you, as only you can do.

There is no place for me without you by my side.
A world without your love, the pain how can I hide?
I want to taste your lips, to feel your body rush,
And like a starving man, I hunger for your touch.

You supply the chance and I'll supply the bliss.
You supply the truth and I'll supply the trust,
You supply the time and I'll supply the lust.

You supply the lips and I'll supply the kiss,
You supply the chance and I'll supply the bliss.

But if it's love you want, it's gonna take a little more,
and when we finally get there, it'll be like waves hitting the shore,
of the oceans of our hearts, the feeling lingers on,
from the touch of evening twilight, 'til the early morning dawn.

You supply the fantasy and I'll supply the act,
You supply the opinion and I'll supply the fact.
You supply the quip and I'll supply the smile,
You supply the road and I'll supply that extra mile.

But if it's love you want, it's gonna take a little more,

Because even though love takes more, I shall not stand and wait,
for love to sweep me off my feet, for I might be too late.
So, I've now become a partner of fate,
in the never-ending waterfall known as love and hate.
