Poems About Fatherly Love

Inspiring Poems On The Bond Between Dads And Their Children

Many men will agree that being a father is the most rewarding relationship that they have. Children begin by loving their fathers unconditionally. It is a clean slate. There is nothing the father has to do to earn his child's love. The difficult part is not losing it. As the child goes out into the world, he will see all kinds of men whom he will look to as models as well. It is crucial that his father stay active in his life and help him make intelligent decisions. A boy without a father will look elsewhere to fill his father's shoes.

    • By Unknown Mystery
    • Published by Family Friend Poems June 2015 with permission of the Author.

The poem is about a father's love for his daughter. He was always her pillar of strength whenever she needed him. Now when it's time for her to go start a new life, she sees that he may need her as much as she needs him. He tries to fight off being weak in front of her, but when she's finally ready to fly, she finally sees tears in her daddy's eyes.

    in Father Poems

He was always my pillar when I knew I'd fall,
Always my anchor so strong and tall.

  4. My Dad

    • By Michael Macdonald
    • Published by Family Friend Poems June 2017 with permission of the Author.

My father showed me the path to being a man. During his 10-year battle with crippling Parkinson's, he did not once complain. My father humbled himself before God, and through all of his medical issues, he kept family, friends, and faith a priority. His love for my mother (his high school sweetheart) was unwavering, and the love he showed us was epic. I will miss my pal, my buddy, my dad.

but he was quick to come to my defense.
    Unable to leap tall buildings,
but could lift my spirits when life didn't make sense.

  7. Wondrous Magical Times

My dad was my hero. I always felt safe as a little girl. He taught me that a man should treat a lady with the utmost respect. We should never settle for anything less. There was a time in my life when I did settle for less. My dad saved me, because that little girl still lived in me, and she clung to that magic time with her daddy. His love and strength empowered me to find myself again. I hope this inspires women to remember the happy little girl in them and to never settle for anything less.

My dad is my hero. He has been my mentor and inspiration throughout my life. He celebrated his 75th birthday in 2009. Not having any idea what to give him, I decided what I wanted to do was tell him what he means to me, so I got out my pen and paper and started writing, and the end result became "My Father, My Friend."

And the last one her father will have trouble letting go of.

    • By Ashley N
    • Published by Family Friend Poems June 2018 with permission of the Author.

There always comes a time in a father's life when he has to watch his children growing up without him to show them the way. A father's role as a parent is to teach his children and give them the strength they will need to grow into an adult. Most fathers don't even know they are doing a good job. I have been blessed with a great father, and I wrote this for him after graduation.

    in Father Poems

    Full of love and encased
With a hope that burns bright in the dark.
Through your love, I know God.

I wrote this poem for my father for a Father's Day gift. It captures the amount of love and adoration I hold for him in my heart. It was to show him how much I appreciate absolutely everything he has done for me, whether it be scolding me for something I did wrong or for cheering me on at a basketball game. He is my best friend and the most amazing father I could ever ask for. Thank you for everything, Daddy. :)

  19. A Message For Him

I am the eldest among six children in the family, and losing our father at an early age is just so hard. You need to give strength to the family by being strong no matter how hard life is. Writing had been my friend since then. I use it to tell the words that I can't speak aloud. And most of what I write and have written are those that I want to tell to my father in heaven.

    in Father Poems
