Silky smooth water flows across your skin...
Its delicate waves drift you astray. 
The reflection of the sun glistens from within...
As if its light will never fade away. 

The heat of the sun warms your soul like a fire...
Your cheeks are exquisitely sun-kissed. 
The elegancy of the water you lovingly admire...
This moment is unadulterated bliss. 

Trusting in the ripples as you float across the surface...
You know that they won't ever let you drown.
You leisurely bask in the sun like a tortoise...
Open your ears to the sea and its sounds. 

The warm salty wind grazes your nostrils...
The peaceful water calms down your heart.
The sunlight in your eyes give a slight sparkle...
The ocean is truly a work of art.

A picture says a thousand words; a smile can too.
A laugh can tell you a lot, as well...
but to hide behind those things is quite easy to do.

For it's easy to say when asked "I'm perfectly fine, why?"
Fake smiles, and forced laughs... But on the inside, you cry.

I had become quite an expert;
at hiding scars and holding tears.
Misery can become like a drug,
Gratefully, I've been sober for years.

But I hold no regrets in this heart of mine, for I learned something quite valuable along the way.
It's almost kind of like a superpower... having the strength to let the past float away.

Maybe a smile can tell you a lot.
Some may believe that a picture tells no lies.
But if you really wish to know the story? I'm telling you darling, it's all in the eyes.

I'm on my way.
They may ask me, "Where to?"
Well, that I cannot say...
For even I have no clue.

I know it's rather far,
For it has to make me whole.
The road to the stars,
The path to my soul.

I must go alone,
But I'll miss you all, believe me.
I must travel into the unknown,
I must sail all of the seas.

You see, I've lost something of mine.
It's special and grand...
Magnificent in its design.
How I lost it is hard to understand.

What did I lose?
Well...I'm not exactly sure.
Please, my confusion you must excuse...
I just know I must find a cure.

I have a terrible disease,
The name of it escapes me.
But it stops your hair from blowing in the breeze.
It stops your heart from feeling free.

I think it's called "Lack of Adventure,"
But correct me if I'm wrong.
That is why I must go on this venture,
For my very essence I must prolong.

I think I may have left my heart somewhere
Or the part of me that believes....
I'll be back soon, I swear!
But for awhile, I must leave.

I know I'm on my way,
And though I may not know where
Myself I cannot betray...
For I know I'm somewhere out there.

All I used to feel was blue.
I used to think love itself was a lie
because of all of the fires I walked through
and all the tears that I cried.

I used to be quite the stubborn one.
I suppose in a lot of ways I still am.
But I used to hide my heart away from the sun,
because I was scared of getting burned all over again.

I used to swear love just wasn't worth the fight.
No one would love me; I was far too blue.
You'd think there's no changing that, right?
But then...my love...there was you.

You made me feel like I was more than enough.
You turned my heart into a lilac purple sky.
The cage around my heart was much too tough,
but I suppose the key was hidden in your eyes.

This fairytale of you and I has not been traditional.
Let's be honest, it's been a hot mess.
But the love that I have for you is unconditional;
and nothing has ever made my heart beat for you any less.

What we have here will one day be quite the story,
and there's no complaints here from me.
So don't you run and don't you worry,
because you'll always be my cup of tea.
