Valentine's Day Poem to Him

He's My Angel From Above

A number of years ago, a couple of 14-year-old female students asked me to write a poem they could give to their boyfriends on Valentine's Day. The boyfriends paid little attention to the poetry in greeting cards the girls showered on them. The girls reported their boyfriends were not only excited with the poem, they both read it over and over, saying the poem described them perfectly. The poem is written in the Villanelle form.

He's so strong; he's my love.
He's the man, he's my dream.
He's my angel from above.

He's so sweet; he's my dove.
He's my sugar; he's my cream.
He's so strong; he's my love.

He's my special puppy love.
He's a tease, such a scream.
He's my angel from above.

He's my teddy, my huggie love.
He's my squeeze; he can please.
He's so strong; he's my love.

He's my gentle kitty love.
He's the star in my dream.
He's my angel from above.

He's my mate, hand in glove.
He's my hero; he's my dream.
He's so strong; he's my love.
He's my angel from above.
