Romantic Valentine's Day Poems

Romantic Poems for Valentine's Day

Valentine's Day is the Holiday of Romance. Romance is love in its active state, ignited and inspired. Valentine's Day may feel like a holiday forced on us by the Greeting Card, Jewelry and Floral industries, but the truth is that we have accepted it because we recognize and value its purpose. Love that never inspires romance is stagnant and stale. Valentine's Day is an opportunity to ignite our existing relationship with romance, and love with an added dose of romance will result in a stronger, longer lasting and far more satisfying relationship.

27 Romantic Valentine Day Poems - Love Poems for Valentines Day

  1. 1. My Promise

    • By Dan P. Brown
    •  Published by Family Friend Poems February 2018

I wrote this valentine for a long-time friend who became my lover. She is such a wonderful, caring, and sensitive person who sadly lost her mother last year. As much as I wanted to be there for her, I knew I could not ease her grief. I have never felt so helpless. So this last Valentine's Day, I wanted her to know she would never be alone and that I would always be there for her with a heartfelt, simplistic poem. I hope it can be enjoyed for its personal sentiment if not its literary quality.

If you were my rose, then I'd be your sun,
painting you rainbows when the rains come.
I'd change my orbit to banish the night,
as to keep you in my nurturing light.

  7. 5. We Belong To One Another

Love is not celebrated only on Valentine's Day. Every day is for love. Yet, I thought of writing a poem for my spouse specially on the occasion of Valentine's day.

We belong to one another, like the body and soul.
You make me complete; you make me whole.
How much I love you is beyond any measure.
You are my wealth, you're the one I truly treasure.

  9. 7. Eternal Emotion

    • By Mason C. Ford
    •  Published by Family Friend Poems February 2020

I fell in love with a girl a while back, but I am not the most forward person in admitting my feelings, so I decided to start writing poetry. Then I could write the perfect love poem in a Valentine's card. I like to think of myself as a hopeless romantic, and I think that she will love this poem particularly. This is because I wrote a very similar poem with her once, so I thought that I would improve it to the best of my ability after having practice in writing poetry.

As long as the birds are singing,
As long as the fish can swim,
As long as the sun keeps shining,
I will love you in the bright or dim.

  10. 8. Unforgettable Valentine's Day

    • By Linzy Bruno
    •  Published by Family Friend Poems February 2016

I've always liked this holiday; it was even fun in grade school, exchanging cards and candy with the other kids. Looking back, it was a sweet and innocent start in love's arena. As an adult, I did have some good ones, but this I wrote in celebration of a new relationship, the one I was always meant to have. This relationship has continued. We got married this past Valentine's Day. We've both been hurt a lot, so I wanted to write something special.

I hope you feel Valentine's Day
is your favorite day this year,
because the first thing I'm gonna do
is hold you tight and shed a grateful tear.

  11. 9. I Will Always Love You

Honey, my feelings for you are no different than the day I wrote you this poem. Thank you for being my best friend throughout our marriage.

I desire you when splinters of light appear
And the dew lazily joins morning sky.
When arias, pining birds to mates sing,
I want the soothing softness of your kiss.

I just wrote this one tonight. Just in time, eh?

I could watch the sunrise, I could watch the sunset.
I could walk in the rain without getting wet.
I could witness their beauty as the flowers bloom.
I could I could listen to bird songs as the new day dawns.

  15. 13. If I Could, I Would

Love is a multifaceted thing. No matter what or how long love lasts, love will always be a treasured part of our future and past. Love helps to shape who you become. Love changes everything the moment that it's begun. Cupid, the archer, looks out from above, for those who're searching for someone to love. His arrow only flows to those he knows would gracefully accept a string to their bows.

If I were an Artist, I'd paint pictures of you
Upon a canvas in lovely colourful hue.

If I were a Singer, I would sing you a song,

  16. 14. Beauty Of Your Love

Everyone does not express love verbally, even if they love someone deeply. They convey their feelings through their actions and gestures.

Such is the beauty of your love

  22. 20. A Lover's Poem

    • By Quinetta Hawkins
    •  Published by Family Friend Poems February 2020

Someone wanted me to write them a poem for Valentine's Day, and this is what I came up with.

I never knew love until I found you.
Always thought it was a myth until you showed me it was true.
A fairytale story that I thought would never come true,
But all that changed when I ran into you.
