I'll Always Be Around

This is a poem that I sent to a guy who I have loved for a long time. We live at different ends of the country and had not spoken in 2 years. He got back in touch with me 2 months before he got sent down. I was so so happy to hear from him again. Every time my phone would beep my heart would skip a beat. Then one day, I looked at my phone and there was an phone message. It was of him telling me that we would have to wait longer than planned to meet up again as he had been sent to prison.

Although you are so far away
You're always in my thoughts
I understand the circumstance
Is dealt with by the courts.

Bars will not stop me thinking
Of the bloke I knew before
Circumstance will not dictate
And neither will the law.

I miss the freedom that we shared
I miss your carefree laugh
But hopefully the lessons learned
Will take another path.

So keep hopes high and don't forget
I'll always be around
I'll always be that special one
Who helps you when you're down.

This poem touched me when I read it. My fiance and I have been together for almost 3 years now but in February 2015 he was arrested and has spent the last several months in jail and will be sent to prison before too long. We used to fight about the people who he thought were here for him but now that this has happened he has come to notice that the only one here for him is me. I miss him very much and can't wait for the day that he gets to come home to me but the most important thing is that I will always be here for him through the lows and the highs of his life.

Thank you for sharing this poem. Me and my mom are not together right now, we arenot seeing eye to eye and I'm hurt because I could of walked away but my mouth got me into a big mess. Now here I am looking at poems about what I've done in my life with my mom. Little do I know I'm hurting my mom. But this mothers day I will make it up to her.

This poem reminds me of me and my ex boyfriend, J.C. We had a rough relationship, and now he is in jail for 6 years. Even though he hurt me, I will always love him. The jail bars are the line that separate us.
