One Step At A Time

I can't help but see what you are thinking
You wonder what happened to us
You thought that you owned my heart and soul
You thought that you had me wrapped
around your finger so tight
But there's something that you should know
You don't lose someone over night
It shouldn't take you by surprise
It may be too late when you realize
You lose a heart one step at a time
I'm not trying to make excuses
There are no simple answers to explain
I never meant to hurt you this way
I never meant to cause you any pain
I can't put it into words
or tell you why it happened this way
It wasn't any one thing that you did
It was all those little things that you didn't do
I know it may be too late to realize
but you lost a heart one step at a time.

Yes this poem touched me as this is what I am going through right now. Me and partner have been going through some tough times and now I can't see any going back from this because there has been too much said and done between the 2 of us. I'm a 25 year old woman and he is my first true love I just don't no how I am going to explain this to my 2 children. My youngest won't be too bad as she's only 6 months so she won't remember him constantly being here as much, but my eldest is 2 and she is constantly asking for him. It's heart breaking but it's something that we can't change :'-(

I love this poem cuz I feel like that but I have learned that he moved on and so do I. I don't want to but I have to that is life!!!
