On my darkest of days.
You showed me love
In so many ways.

There's no way at all
I could have what I do
If I hadn't realized
That it's always been you.

Thank you for
The life that we live.
Thank you for
Everything that you give.
Your time, your money,
Your undying loyalty;
I have to tell you,
You're not getting rid of me!

You balance me out.
You keep me stable.
Without you,
I wouldn't be able
To keep myself going
When the day seems too long.
It just happens to be you
Who helps me stay strong.

As long as you love me,
I promise I'll stay.
I'll love you forever...

But she's dead inside.
How can one live
When the important things died?

She may seem alive
But she's dead inside.
How can one live
When the important things died?

You can't just take it away
If you never even know
The dark things tearing out her soul
That she'll never choose to show.

She's dead and alive,
And it's no way to live,
So the numbness envelopes.
She has nothing to give.

She's pretending to be all that is real.
Pretending to hurt when she can't even feel.
Pretending to look when she can't even see.
Pretending to love when she can't even be.

Not Knowing How To Deal With A Broken Heart

I'll always be too cold to touch.
So, that does beg the question;
Why did I love you so much?

It hurts everywhere now
From this broken heart.
I had no idea being without you
Would be able to tear me apart.

Where is your heart now?
Was your love ever real?
It would be a miracle
If for a moment, I could feel.

What am I supposed to do?
Is there anyone I can tell?
I never knew someone alive
Could really live in hell.

It's time to accept that life
Is completely overrated.
It doesn't matter that I have a pulse,
I'll still choose to be sedated.

Cost Of Vanity

I wrote this poem because of a dream I had. I was a very vain young woman and it caused trouble later in life. I'm sure I could have been much happier if I didn't obsess so much.

She can't be forever,
That girl in the picture.
Outward beauty is fleeting
And her purpose, a blur.

She can't be forever,

Outward beauty is fleeting
And her purpose, a blur.

She is caught in life's circles
And each time back around
She finds imperfections
She wishes she never found.

The day fast approaches
When she'll be on her own.
Alone, no protection,
She'll be forced to atone.

She was willingly fooled,
And for such a long time,
As she held in her questions
And ignored all the signs.

Ignorance is bliss.
A statement so true.
So she held in the answers
To the questions she knew.

Our most valuable thing
Is our intellect.
But unwrap it early,
And you'll be forced to reflect.

That reflection itself
Turns to insanity.
Hence, my cautionary tale
Of the cost of vanity.
