Short Poem

Short Poem About Forever

My name is Terri Nicole Tharrington. I am in the US NAVY and I have been writing poems since I was 14 years old. I want to get out of the military and major in writing but I am not sure how far it is going to get me. My poems started off depressing because of all of the complications and hurdles I faced growing up as a kid, but being around positive attitudes and finally believing in myself has gotten me a long way. Thanks for reading! Feedback is greatly appreciated.

Forever we remain oblivious to the future,
lost to the past and enduring our torture.
Forever we take chances to settle our scores,
losing some battles and winning some wars.
Forever praying out loud hoping someone will hear,
forever crying softly but never shedding a tear.
Forever exists behind a disguise,
but the belief in forever keeps our hearts alive.

Hi, love your poem! My daughter is going to recite it in school. She needs to know a little more about the author. Can you help?
Thanks!

When I read this poem, I thought it was the best poem I ever read and it shows a lot of emotion, which I like, and it showed a lot of detail. When I showed this poem to my friend, Ariel she told me it's inspiring, touching, and beautiful and I agree!

My 12 year old daughter stumbled across your poem in her research to find a short poem to recite at school. We thought it was perfect for the world we live in today. Touching and moving. I had a lump in my throat. As soon as I read it I told my daughter "use that one" and she agreed. Keep writing.

I just love this poem because it talks about how we don't know what is going to happen in the future. It also talks about how we get caught up in the past and we just keep thinking about the past when we should be focusing on the future. I am not one to love poetry but this poem speaks to me.
