Poem About Seeking Forgiveness

This poem was written 10 years ago when I was in a dark place. I was surrounded by the temptations of drugs, crime, and an extremely destructive lifestyle in general. It was a time when I was standing at the crossroad, not knowing which way to turn. Expressing my true thoughts through poems often kept me grounded and true to the person that I truly was and am. I yearned for the power of God to see me through and help me battle my demons. I did prevail.

So much I have done.
So much I have tried.
Every tear I have shed
Is a tear I have cried.
Within, I still bleed,
And to you, God, I plead.
Forgive me, I've sinned.
Forgiveness I need.
