Faith In God Poems

To have faith is to defy logic. It takes faith to think positively. It takes faith to believe that there is a loving God who cares deeply about our pain. To believe in life, the universe, or yourself after numerous failures is to have courage. Faith is an act of courage. It is choosing to get up in the morning and face our fears and believe that God will help us. Faith is choosing to believe that even though we may have failed one hundred times before that we can succeed the next time.

  1. 1. Lost In Emotion

This is about a period in my life when I felt discouraged and frustrated. I was complaining and feeling ungrateful. But after much prayer and being honest with God, these poetic words took form in my heart, and I believe they were inspired by the Holy Spirit. I was comforted and my strength was renewed. Praise God. He is Awesome!

Sometimes I feel lost in a maze of emotions,
where every direction feels like a dead-end street.
I feel so alone in my search for an answer
that I start to blame God for not meeting my needs.

  3. 2. My Victory Song

The life of a Christian will seem a little challenging at times, but it comforts me to remember that God's plans are always good and His love endures forever.

    God's love sets me free.
    This is my victory song.
His grace is sufficient for me.
It is what keeps me strong.

  5. 3. A Spiritual Journey

I am Wind Walker from the Glamorum Clan.
The journey of self is what this poem is about...from a messed up kid who found my path, to a Shaman.

    Across from the mountains,
A little house sits in the trees.
    I'm lost in tranquility
As my soul tries to breathe.

  6. 4. Let Go

I kept hearing God tell me to let go, but I didn't want to. It was way too good for me to let go. I didn't understand why I had to. I knew He had better plans for me, but right at that moment I didn't believe it. I kept holding on, even though it seemed like everyone was trying to bring me down. I was experiencing so much pain and hurt. Let go...and so I did. It hurt, of course, and my heart was shattered. But through those moments, I learned many new lessons, which I put into this poem.

"Let go," He says. "Let go."
But my heart is stubborn, so I do not let go.
"What if it hurts?" I say.
"I know it will hurt," He says.

To me, this poem seems to be a symbolic one. “I” is ego and “He” is the Almighty. He advises again and again to let ego go. But “I” doesn't want to move further even to the extent of 1mm....

  7. 5. Rest, My Soul

Sometimes I write to encourage myself in the Lord, and He is always faithful.

Rest, my soul, in God's love
    as you live every day.
    Relax in His faithfulness
as you go along your way.

  8. 6. Just Like A Child

When I look at little kids, I remember what the Lord Jesus said about them. There are so many lessons to learn from a little child.

    How I wish to trust
    In life, no questions asked,
    Hanging on God's words,
    Confident and relaxed,

  9. 7. Til Now

In the midst of our own battles -- perhaps health, financial, relationship struggles -- we would do well to take stock of the Lord's blessings in our lives over the years. In doing so, we can find great encouragement and optimism.

I stand in a stream of madness
And take a moment to still my fears.
In the aisles of dreams and sadness,
You were there throughout the years.

  10. 8. The Shepherd Slept

I know how it feels to be lost at sea, to feel unloved, unwanted, and drowning in misery. There's no one to blame; it was my own anxiety and despair until I realised there was help out there. That help came from the Lord, my shepherd. I'm completely certain I heard Him speak to me, and suddenly everything fell into place.

There was a shepherd who fell fast asleep
So there was no one to see to his sheep.
The sheep were delighted, freedom at last
Followed the leader and ran away fast.

  11. 9. God's Flight

I sat down to write something for two friends who were both experiencing some difficulties in their lives. I wanted to let them know that they were not alone with their problems, that I was and would always be there for them. This is what flowed from my pen.

On the ground sits a bird
    That's too afraid to fly.
Beautiful wings could make it soar,
But the pain of past failure is its lonesome cry.

  12. 10. Just Between You And Me, Lord

With the turmoil that the world is in today, you always hear of the misunderstandings that are often the cause. I can't help but wonder what the world would be like if all people followed Christian principles. I read once that there were 231 different religions, each one thinking theirs was the right one. It has been that way for centuries, and I fear for the future. Sometimes I'm glad I'm 98.

Just between you and me, Lord, I'd like to say
It's not always easy to follow Your way.
I understand what you mean by the Golden Rule--
To create a good life, there is no better tool.

  13. 11. A Daughter's Blessing

This poem is a profession of faith for my daughter. There is a very wise verse in the Bible that says that we should "speak those things that are not as though they were." For what we speak about our children is what will come to pass, whether our words are positive or negative. Our faith words can cause great things to happen... God Bless

  14. 12. Outside The Door

I am going through a dark phase of my life where nothing makes sense. I feel far away from God and people. I want to know God more, but He feels distant. The promises He has given me just make me feel frustrated because none seem true. My faith feels like it is dying, but I know my feelings do not dictate reality. This poem is meant to describe my feelings, not what is actually true. The truth is God is good and faithful, but this poem was written simply to express my hurt.

How am I supposed to trust You
When You feel so far away?
How can I grow closer to You
When it is here I am forced to stay?

  15. 13. Take My Hand And Never Let Go

    • By Gianna Nicole
    •  Published by Family Friend Poems November 2010

This person means the world to me! She's a close friend who knows all there is about me! She isn't judgmental, she isn't mean; she simply understands and is there to help everyone through everything. I wrote this poem to thank her for all she does, but this isn't even close to summing it all up! I, along with many others, look up to her highly and are grateful for her friendship!! :)
She truly is a blessing! Dedicated to: K.J.

You took my hand and showed me the way
when I was blinded by unfortunate fate.
You took my hand and prayed with me
while my troubles quickly faded away.

  16. 14. Mistaken

I live in a world surrounded with people treating each other differently for the color of their skin or what gender they are attached to or what they believe in. I believe we are all equal, that we are all human. Nobody should be deemed different just because they aren't part of the norm.

There's a girl crying alone in her room,
Wishing she could disappear from this cursed earth.
Dragging a razor blade across her scarred wrist,
She fails to see how much she is worth.

  17. 15. I Believe In Myself

    • By Faith Mcgee
    •  Published by Family Friend Poems October 2016

I wrote this poem because when I tell people what I want to do with my life some people try to discourage me. At first I let it bother me, but now I realize that you can't let petty people discourage you.

In this world, I want to be many things.
People tell me I can't be everything,
But I can't listen to what they say.
I can't let their envy control what I think.

  18. 16. Time, If I Had

Devotion: it is not an emotion; it is giving something from yourself to the ones you love each day. When I met my wife, I was just 15 years of age. I had all my life in front of me and never realized how fast it would slip away. Now I am 48 years of age with more life behind me than in front of me to live. I now realize how important each day is. I truly pray for all who are in love that you realize how fast life will move, realize what you put off until tomorrow could be lost in the past.

Time, if I had all the time in the world I would have absolutely nothing.
It is not time itself that makes your life worth something.

In the time that I have, I will be kinder, gentler, and more giving.

  19. 17. God Is Still Right There

No matter our situation or circumstance. Whether we are walking atop hope, full of peace, wrestling with fear, or overwhelmed with life in general...God is always present. In our victory and turmoil His concern and love for us never waivers. And through all my weeping, these roads paved with tears and joy, God has never failed me. Or forgotten me.

    our weeping may only endure
    for the night, but
    even when joy finally drapes

  20. 18. The Chrysalis

At 95, I can look back on many occasions and realize their purpose. I've tried to write poems that would make readers think about what they have done and what they can do to make this world a better place. Humor is needed. Kindness and understanding are so important. Of course, faith is the essential need. I am pleased when I get responses from far away places from people who enjoyed the poems.

    We are never finished products,
No matter how long we live.
There's always something we can add,
    Like learning to forgive.

  21. 19. Tomorrow's Unrevealed Blessings

God sends many blessings our way to keep us going. You cannot judge tomorrow by today. Tomorrow holds blessings that you don't know about. God loves us and He wants us to be encouraged. Although today may not be your best day, you don't know what tomorrow holds. Today may seem dark and dreary, but tomorrow holds many good things that you can't see today. Never give up on tomorrow and never give up on God. Weeping may endure for a night, but joy comes in the morning!

Although you can't see your way today,
    Tomorrow holds unrevealed blessings

    That you don't know about.

  22. 20. The Hope Downstream

My name is John Raines and I'm a recovering alcoholic/addict with a little over 16 years of continuous sobriety. I wrote this poem a few days ago while experiencing a spiritual low. Writing the poem helped lift me out of the funk I was in and refocus my attention on God.

being guided by worry and strife,
    floating rudderless toward desperate straights,
