Poem For A Special Friend For Years

I wrote this verse for a person who has been a friend to me for years. she has always been there for me throughout the past twenty years, although we don't see each other that often these days, I know that she is always only a phone call away, that is a true testament to a good friend.

This verse is but a token
to express just how I feel
for showing me a friendship
that's solid, true and real.

So many people in your life
pretend to be your friend
but I know that you are genuine
from the beginning to the end.

Your acquaintances may be many
but true friends, they are few
so I hope you know and realise
that I'm always there for you

We've laughed when we were happy
and cried when we were sad
so we celebrate the good times
and commiserate the bad.

And if your life has hit rock bottom
and you're feeling all alone
I'm only just a call away
so please pick up the phone.
