Short Love Poems - Page 2

  1. 21. True Love

The soft touch of your hand on mine truly lets me know what love is for the first time.

A Girl Who Is Perfect In Every Way

When the moon shines on your face,
I feel the warmth of the sun.
I feel your beauty beckoning me into your arms.
The soft touch of your hand on mine
Truly lets me know what love is for the first time.
Your heart touches those who choose to feel.
When I see you, I pinch myself to see if this is real.

  2. 22. I Want Love

    I don’t want attachment.
    I want love.

I don’t want you to be
    with me because it hurts
you to not be with me.

I want you to be with me
    because being with me
    makes you feel the most
    alive you’ve ever felt.

  3. 23. Love Over Time

    In cracked skin
    and calloused hands
    morning light
    and greying hair
    in memories
    of the first touch
    and the taste of lips
    I love you here
    I loved you there
    I love you now
    I loved you then
time will never be a friend
but our love will never end

  4. 24. I Can Be Anything You Want And Need

    • By S.L. Gray
    •  Published by Family Friend Poems December 22, 2020

    I can be the silence
    when the world around you
    gets to be too loud.

    I can be the rain
    pattering on your rooftop
    when you need that lullaby.

    I can be anything
    you want and need
to make this life settle in
    and be at ease.

  5. 25. A Helping Hand

There are times when the touch of a fellow human being can be very comforting

    A Comforting Touch

    You hold my hand,
I, like a child, feel safe.
    You hold my hand,
    I feel a warm embrace.
    You hold my hand,
    my fears begin to fade.
    You hold my hand,
    and I am less afraid.
    You hold my hand,
I know a sense of peace.
    You hold my hand,
    I feel my troubles cease.

  6. 26. You

    You are
    what I’ve been
    searching for,
    chasing after,
    longing to find,
    every star,
    moonbeam
    and dream,
    all of every thing
    so infinitely far away
    and yet so intimately
    here in my arms.

  7. 27. When You're Next To Me

Whenever you were next to me, there was no rest of the world. There were no stars painting light to the darkness, no wind at our backs, no birdsong in the trees. To me, there was only ever you.
Even now, things slow down and pause when I think of you. There are still those little sections of lost time, where everything is drowned out by those unanswerable questions about what might have been.

    The world seems
    somehow slower
    when you are
    next to me.
    As though my senses
    cannot focus
    on anything
    but you.

    • By Paul Smith
    •  Published by Family Friend Poems January 2015

This was written for Gianna, the love of my life.

    Loving Someone Forever

When I say I love you, please believe it's true.
When I say forever, know I'll never leave you.
When I say goodbye, promise me you won't cry,
Because the day I'll be saying that will be the day I die.

  9. 29. Sun Kissed

    • By Peter C. Free
    •  Published by Family Friend Poems December 2019

Such a short poem but so full of meaning. A few years ago, I thought my marriage was over. There were many sparkling stars but no sun. By God's grace, we're back together. This poem celebrates life, love, and commitment. It is about the joy of my life, my wife, who believed in us even when I had lost all hope in us. She is my daily miracle.

You Have Made My Dreams Come True

A squillion stars shine in the sky.
Soaring angels sing sweet songs nearby.
I wake and smile, my dreams are true.
The star in my arms, my sun, is you.

  10. 30. Come A Little Closer

    • By Chloe
    •  Published by Family Friend Poems November 2007

We don't always have to shout our love. It can be done with a soft whisper into the ears of our lover.

    Whispering Our Love

    Come a little closer
    Honey, come a little closer,
let me whisper in your ear.
Let me tell it to you softly,
So that no one else will hear.
What I have to say is private,
    and is just between us two;
just want you, to know how much,
I love the things you do

    • By John M. Rogers

Making a relationship work is hard but worth the effort.

If We Put Our Hearts Into It

You and me are one of a kind,
You and me are a perfect kind.
    We can't do everything forever,
But I wish we could do everything together.
You and me can do it,
If we put our hearts into it.

    • By Ronnie R. Jennings

Love is when that special someone kisses you.
Love is having someone to talk to.
Love is being romantic on that one day.
Love is happiness that is shown day after day

  15. 35. Daydream

    • By Joanne Wasserman
    •  Published by Family Friend Poems May 2014

This poem is a musing about the sensuality of new love which changed my perception of the world as I knew it.

You fill the room with sweet sensation
    distracting bits of information
crowd the space where logic dwells
distorting sights and sounds and smells
    touching me with tactile pleasure
    pushing me beyond a measure
of reasonable doubt that soon I sense
I'm nowhere in the present tense.

  16. 36. Let Love Grow

I want to live in a world
    where nobody is afraid
    to fall in love
    or admit it
    and let love grow
    like wildflowers
    in the most unexpected
    (but beautiful)
    places.

  17. 37. The Thing About Love

Love Can Put You Back Together

    The thing is:
    Love will break you.
    That is a guarantee.
    Yet at the same time,
    it is the only thing
    that can put you
    back together.

  18. 38. She Makes Me Whole

I've never thought of her as perfect. But she was the closest I've ever been to knowing what it means to belong. The truth is, I still don't know what love means, but when I hear the word, I think of her.

    I don’t think
    she is perfect.
    She is flawed and broken
    like the rest of us.
    But the pieces she has
    left of her heart
    match the pieces
    missing from mine.
    She is not perfect
    but she does
    make me whole.

  20. 40. Next To One Another

This poem is from Aurora Raine's first poetry book, Love Notes and Lullabies.

    I believe
    in some way
    no matter how much
    we have changed
or how much time has passed
    I believe
    our souls
    will always feel at home
    next to one another
