What I Want My Girlfriend To Know

This poem was about my hopes for my new relationship with my girlfriend who has since broken up with me. Things were going well, so it came as a surprise. While we were dating, she told me about her ex-boyfriends who had hurt her in the past, so I wanted her to know that I'd never be like that. I actually gave this to her the day we broke up, and I'm not even sure she read it, but I hope she did. I hope she knows that even if we're not together I want what's best for her.

I hope you never push me away
Because with you I'm truly happy
I hope you know I'll always stay
Because with you no day is crappy

I like it when we cuddle
Even more when I see you smile
When I'm with you I have no trouble
I hope it stays like this for a while

I know you've been hurt in the past
I hope you know I'll never be that guy
I hope your pain doesn't last
I hope you know I'll never say goodbye

I hope most of all you'll trust me with your heart
And know I'll never tear it apart
