  2. 42. Watching The Rain

I am not a poet, but every once in awhile I get the inspiration.

    Rain, glorious, pounding, soaking rain
How I love to hear your song
Drowning my world in your torrential downpour
I sit here and contemplate your frenzy dance moves upon my window panes

  3. 43. Far As I Can See

I was camping in the Rocky Mountains and the feeling in the air was so peaceful so I had to write about it. I wanted to give the scenery living qualities to make it seem alive. This was the only way I could think of that would do it justice.

Peering out across the motionless water
No sounds to be heard for miles away
Nonetheless I remain quiet for now
Along with noises of the beautiful bay

  4. 44. Primitive Afternoon

Richard Allen Taylor wrote this poem about 20 years ago based on memories of living in Texas, briefly, over 40 years ago.

    I asked for
    this primitive afternoon
    away from it all

  5. 45. Once More

    • By Stacy L. Gibbs
    •  Published by Family Friend Poems November 2016

I love nature and enjoy finding places where my writing can flourish. Writers at all stages need a place where they feel comfortable to develop authentic pieces. As you read my poem, I hope you feel how inviting and inspiring this nature-filled place is for anyone who enjoys reading or writing about the beauty of nature. Enjoy!

As I walk through the woods,
I see a stump where a tree once stood.

The once mighty oak laying down for a nap,

  6. 46. The Grand Canyon

She picked up her brush and began to paint
Her pallet of earth sometimes was faint
The depth of scene was beyond reach of eye
Topped now and again by a turquoise sky

  7. 47. Midnight Wonders

    • By Pratyusha Dasgupta
    •  Published by Family Friend Poems December 2016

Hi, I have recently turned sixteen. Since 8 years I have been writing poems and have acquired a lot of admiration and encouragement from my benefactors. I am a great nature lover, so I have written this poem for you all. If you close your eyes and listen to the poem with a calm mind, it will really give you a magical effect, I suppose. The poetry will help you to explore the beauties of midnight. The dark sky, stars, etc. are all wonderfully interpreted in a poetic language. I hope you will like the poem.

I was tossing in my bed
    in the midnight hour,
struggling to get a wink of sleep,
but my eyes lay on the clock tower.

  8. 48. The Beauty Of My Childhood

    • By Jennyfer M. Patterson
    •  Published by Family Friend Poems March 2018

I wrote this poem about all the experiences of my childhood and the joy it brought being out in nature.

I am from morning dew cold against small bare feet
and birds chirping a beautiful song
From nature that sounds like the most beautiful orchestra
I've ever heard, opening my tired eyes to the world.

Today's poem that uses the "I am from..." line is an instruction I was given for an essay in a retirement center's writing class a while ago. I wonder if that's what prompted Patterson to use...

  9. 49. The Fires Of Winter

    • By Kate Ferguson
    •  Published by Family Friend Poems January 2018

I wanted to write a poem that shows beauty and tranquility all around us. I hope this poem shows people true beauty in nature around us.

As I walk on the winding path,
The brisk air softly blows my hair,
    Hitting my rosy cheeks
    As silence fills the air.

  10. 50. The Tornado

    • By Megan W
    •  Published by Family Friend Poems September 2015

I watched out my window as a tornado formed and subsequently touched down. Then I wrote this immediately after.

    There is no stopping it.

The sky is falling to the earth,
    Like snow in its beauty

  11. 51. The Lonely Bird

My name is Andrew Charette. I am a college student who enjoys the manipulation of the English language to create meaningful combinations of words on a page that people refer to as poetry. I most enjoy reflecting on life, but comedic poems also have a special place in my heart.

In a park whither an elderly man once went
was a bird with a voice so wonderful much money would he have spent
just to hear that melodic bird sing
and listen to its voice, with that majestic ring.
