I've Figured It Out

Published by Family Friend Poems November 2007 with permission of the Author.

Whilst our little boy was growing up,
Our hearts were growing at a distance,
Our love was focused on him,
Not on each other, in this instance.

I know now why my heart aches; I've figured it out,
We haven't been sharing the affection about,
We have forgotten each other over the years,
The couple we once were, the thought brings me to tears.

I am Corinna and you are Matt,
We once were a couple, do you remember that,
Insistence is the key,
Or this could lead to tragedy.

Our little boy needs us together.
To do this, we need to consider each other,
Spend a little more time alone together,
Rediscover each other,
Remember why we chose one another.

Individually we both have identity,
Together we are infinity.
