Christmas Poem

Poem Thanking Mom For All She's Done

My son always wrote me a poem on my birthday and at Christmas. He wrote this one last year. I pulled it out because he is leaving for college and I will not see him again until next Christmas. I will miss him so....

Merry Christmas, Mom

For all of the presents
You put under the tree,
For all of the times
You picked up after me...

For all of the times
That you tucked me in tight
And we stayed up to talk
Long into the night

For all of the days
I was feeling so down
And the times that you turned
To a smile my frown

For the cookies you baked
And the stockings you stuffed,
For the cuts that you healed
And the pillows you fluffed...

For the time that you took
Off the training wheels
For the nights that you made me
My favorite meals

For the years throughout
Elementary school
For knowing the right thing
Isn't always what's cool

For putting up with
Those preteen years
For making it through
All the laughs and the tears

For all of the days
That you loved me so much
Even during the times
That I made it so tough...

For all of the memories
We have already shared
For the future for which
We cannot be prepared

For being there for that one-year-old boy
Who sat in the house and sucked on his thumb
For working so hard at being his mom
And making that boy into the man I've become
Look back on all that we have been through
And look at me now mom, how far I have come

For all of the times I'll never forget
Merry Christmas to you, Mom
Here's to the memories
We haven't had yet

Merry Christmas...Love, Nick

I had to send this poem to my older brother, Mike, after I read it! The poet describes everything about his mother exactly as if we were talking to our own mom! She passed on in the spring of 2005, and we all miss her Christmas dinners she has held over the years! We always had a wonderful time together. She would cook the main dish, and the rest of the family members would bring all the side dishes. The men usually brought either smoked salmon or elk and venison to add! All the children were given gifts from Old Saint Nick! Also the dogs got a bone. We all miss our mother so much, especially around the Christmas holiday! We love you, Mom! MERRY CHRISTMAS!!

Poems are a special type of art, a form that we can all share. It is a gift we were all born with, a form that we can all share.

YES, it has touched me a lot.- It has touched me to the point of sharing tears.
I have 2 Sons (45) and (41),- I have given my whole life for them, and would do it all over again.- They are my life, they are my everything.- But I have never received a poem from them, and I do not think I ever will.-
Some mothers are very lucky.- Others are NOT.-
