Animal Poem

The Beauty Of The Cardinal

I see cardinals every once and awhile around my neighborhood. When I see one it makes me feel happy and it's supposed to be a sign that a loved one who has passed is among you at the time. Their chirping songs are very noticeable.

The Cardinal

Today I saw  a cardinal,
Just flying by my way.
The crimson bird of song,
A gift from god today.
His beautiful coat of red,
How glorious he looks,
I also see his mate,
Along the sunny brooks.
His black face masked,
And bright orange bill,
His songs are such a gift,
He sings his songs at will .
His head turns to one side,
To take a look at me.
A sign of things to come today,
Good things are yet to be.
They say this birds a symbol,
From our heavenly ones above,
A loved one who has passed from us,
Someone we truly loved.
I hear the sounds he's singing,
As I look into the trees.
He knows that I am watching,
As I feel the warm windy breeze.
I love to hear the cardinals songs,
They always make my day,
Watching them fly around my yard,
A safe place for them to stay.
