There are no sides to take.
Both young and old must be prepared

The month was September and the day was quite nice,
But this was to change on the shake of a dice.
Two planes with hundreds of people on board
Were about to crash, so they tried to get word

The light shaded my home
in the eeriest of yellow,
as if sunset, forced too early,
cried and bellowed.
When I just even glance at the American Flag, I feel a surge of pride.
The stripes and stars gleam in the morning as we put it up to rise outside.
I think of the people long ago fighting for our rights.
Who could have foretold the horror
At Sandy Hook that day
When precious lives were taken?
Their futures were stolen right away.
Empty net being taken away,
hauled in upon the boat in the bay,
no fish left in the waters they say.
Beautiful day.
The horror we endured that day,
The shock, the pain, the fear.
A nightmare unimaginable
To those of us still here.
