Keep Safe
No more shaking hands.
Don't touch your face.
Never stand too close
In a crowded place.
Poems about current events are relevant to our particular lifestyles. Some may choose to write about suffering and injustices that are occurring in the world and others may write about politics. Taking an interest in the world around you is a way of showing that you care about the other living things that inhabit the world together with us. Sometimes it is hard to get a handle on what is truly happening in the news. With the advent of the internet and social media, we have many sources to tap into in order to get an accurate picture. It is our responsibility to ensure our sources are reliable.

I don't know how I'm feeling.
I think I feel all right.
I'm busy doing nothing
From morning until night.
Thank you so much, Nisreen. That's so lovely of you to leave a comment. When I wrote the poem, I certainly didn't think we'd still be going through it. I hope you and your family are...
Hurt, pain, suffering, people are dying.
What's going on? We're both crying.
Guns, hand grenades, and bombs too,
People running scared; they don't know what to do.
I can see what you write and totally agree with you, I may not be in a war but my family lived in Iraq until my brother got killed there. His family lives now in Netherland but they still...

Blood starts drippin' from the soldier's wound
Seeps like sewage 'neath the politician's room
Deep in the house, white fades to red
Very nice poetry. I am overwhelmed. The poet is great who understand teary and hearty feelings of the people towards our great soldiers.
I woke up to see the bright Connecticut sky.
My mom came in with a holiday twinkle in her eye.
She helped me get dressed and the morning flew by.
September Eleventh Two Thousand and One
The Big Apple awoke, a new day had begun.
The Statue of Liberty was standing so proud
As God and Freedom were singing out loud.
Whoa! This is an amazing poem. You're right, you never should've had a reason to write this, but I'm glad you did! It really warmed my heart. You are right about 9/11 banding America...

You taught me the ABC's and my 123's. Your musical genius will go down in history.
Your nickname was the King of Pop. You Never Stopped Until You Got Enough.
People of all ages learned to Rock With You, Billie Jean wasn't your lover and you Beat It too.
Your music was Black or White, Thrilling was your game. Now that you're not here the world will never be the same.
Michael Jackson saved my life when things starting falling apart for me. I believed in him and his music. His words of love and peace in each song he wrote and performed. When things got ugly...
God will paint rainbows in the sky
Once again for the world and I.
Signs that will tell us all is well,
Freedom from this grim living hell.

The world is losing it's trees today,
Do you think that's OK?
Fights, Arguments and civil wars.
Pollution caused by our own cars....
If you're anxious that all have been asked to stay home,
Take comfort in knowing you are not alone.
Tonight at 8, wherever you are,
