Very insightful. Self-love can be (and maybe should be) the first love we encounter. Even when we're not perfect.

Very nicely done. I totally agree with you. I've used this same approach in my own life. I think sometime we pay more attention to what we're about to go through instead of how much you've...

  7. 27. The Opposite Is Also True

    • By Coral
    •  Published by Family Friend Poems April 2018

My mother died 3 years ago from suicide (it's longer than I thought). I was just 11 years old. Since then, I have been writing poems. Some are just random scribbles. Others have a lot of thought. This poem is one I have written recently. My poems have been veering more toward "getting over it" recently. But I still miss her every single day, and I will never stop using my birthday wishes or shooting stars on wishing for her back.

They say it's sweet that we laugh
    because our bodies literally
    can't contain the
    joy.

  9. 29. Tribute To Dale Earnhardt Sr.

I was in the Air Force and deployed to the Middle East the day Dale Earnhardt crashed. We were lucky enough to have a TV to see the race. Later that night, I sat in my bunk and wrote this for him.

I have built this machine with bleeding hands.
I have shaped it to slice the wind.
I have shined it with polish and sweat.
I have balanced it with feel

  10. 30. The Song Of Wind

    • By Natalia Huja

  11. 31. I Love To Breathe In

I lost my sense of smell when I got Covid, which made me appreciate my favourite scents much more when my sense of smell returned.

    Homely aromas
    of freshly baked bread.
    Scents of the garden
    infused in my head.

  13. 33. Let Love Go

    • By Kerry P. Howland
    •  Published by Family Friend Poems July 2017

I wrote this poem with the intention of letting go of someone I love deeply who no longer claims to love me.

    His love for you,
    he cannot show.
    For this alone,
    just let him go.

  14. 34. The Butterfly

I am constantly amazed by the simple beauty of all that is around us. All we need to do is to sit and be aware of the simple gifts of nature.

The butterfly is a thing to behold,
with colors more beautiful than gold.

    Flying hour by hour,

  16. 36. I Don't Like

    • By Sally.F
    •  Published by Family Friend Poems April 2009

I'm not a very hateful person, but I had to write an "I don't like" poem for school.

I don't like poachers and animal harmers,
Like Japanese whalers and fox shooting farmers.
I don't like people who waste and litter,
Bully and hurt or speak very bitter.

  17. 37. A Fallen Leaf

When we are new to love, sometimes we fall too quickly and allow ourselves to be put in situations we end up regretting. Everything changes after that. Ella Wheeler Wilcox (1850-1919) was an American author and poet who became known as a poet even before graduating high school.

A trusting little leaf of green,
    A bold audacious frost;
A rendezvous, a kiss or two,
    And youth for ever lost.

  18. 38. Better Will Come

It is so important to always hold on to hope. You owe it to yourself, and by holding on to hope you are allowing things to unfold in such a way that you are more likely to come across brighter days.

    Have faith
    that although it may seem
like the good has come and gone,
    there will be better.
