21. Final Moments
It wrecks me, that last moment
that played out so wrong.
Our hopeless eyes locked
just a few seconds too long.
It wrecks me, that last moment
that played out so wrong.
Our hopeless eyes locked
just a few seconds too long.
Short but powerful. My favorite kind. This poem shows what can happen when two people who can't be together (for whatever reason) don't want to be apart.

I know we'll never be the same.
Behind my love,
I'm filled with shame.
Age. Family. Work... could play a huge part. Or he might be married. Men can be master deceivers.

I'm tired of pretending
Everything is okay,
That it does not pain me
When I hear your name.
Exactly how I feel. Trying to pretend it doesn't hurt. Well, it sure does.
You walked away
Left me alone
Nothing to say
No place to call home
Every day hurts as much as the last.
If I could turn back time, I'd return to the past.
A past where things were lovely and true.
I was drowning in the sea.
You took one look then suffocated me.
Bubbles came in through my mouth as I screamed.
They exited my nose when I tried to breathe.
Love is a four letter word,
that makes your heart sore.
You think you're in love,
Admiring her beauty
When we first met
Her blond hair and body
I just wanted to get
Love is sad, and love is cruel.
To find it again, don't be a fool.
My flower was young,
And my flower was sweet.
You poison me with your eyes,
Your lips curving, drawing me in.
How can you trust me with all my lies?
Do you still love what's deep within?
