Sun And Moon

You were like the sun who brought light
Into my cold, dark, and lifeless night.
You made me realize that no matter what I do,
My life will always revolve around you.

Just when I thought that darkness was all around,
You showed me your light and picked me up off the ground.
In your arms, love and care is what I found.
With you, peace and ease surrounds.

We are like the sun and the moon.
Far in every way, but I wish to see you soon.
We are miles and miles apart,
But never forget we are always connected in our heart.

My dad was in WW2 navy. He went to war at 17. His time was mostly spent in south China seas. He almost died of yellow fever, a blast on the ship, that till he died hurt him. Never complained about it, always said it was his duty and do it again. He was so proud of being of being in the navy.
I cannot imagine what he went through. He was gone from his family 4 years. While at sea he got word his dad died. Took him 3 months to get home. My dad died suddenly & buried with full honors at a veterans cemetery. It was one of the hardest days of my life. My strong navy dad gone. 20 yrs later I go & talk to him. He wanted to lie with others that had served. I am so proud my dad served in the navy at a time of war. He loved this country, always had a flag pole with American flag in front of his home. I wish this country would honor and care for its veterans better. Dad loved the navy & this country till day he died. God speed Daddy
