The Stories we tell ourselves
often can be
The things that imprison
or cause us to flee.
We learn them as children
'I'm not good enough'
'I'm such a bad person'
'I have to be tough'
But they are just Stories
that formed in our minds
When we didn't feel safe
Or some people weren't kind
They helped us to cope
When life felt too scary
When people we trusted
Made us feel wary.
But we're no longer children
And those Stories don't serve us
They stop us from fully
Achieving our purpose.
If we keep those old stories
And believe what they say
We'll repeat our old patterns
And we might lose our way.
But when we accept
That our thoughts are the key
We can change our old Stories
And set ourselves free.
We can find our own power
that lives deep within us
We can reach our potential
And the joy it will bring us.
When we know our own value
And our own precious worth
We'll believe we deserve
All the good on this earth.
When our actions show love
And are not ruled by fear
We'll see anything's possible
Now our true selves are here.
We will feel the connection
With the people around us
Once we're loving ourselves
And the world that surrounds us.
