It's 3:30 AM and I lie awake with swollen eyes and a broken heart, I wonder how this is so easy for you. How not speaking comes as easy for you as breathing does. Does it ever hurt you too?
I still reminisce on the future we talked about, a part of me wishes it could still be you. I grow old while brushing your gray hairs, laughing as our lungs give out. I really meant it when I said I loved you.
I feel ashamed for thinking you meant it too. Time has passed and yet I still love you more than my own life. I still think of you softly, and hope the universe protects your heart the very way you failed to protect mine. I know this will ache for years, I've never been good at letting things go -- people go. I love you.
I will cry every year on your birthday and rip up every letter I've ever wrote you. You will never know how much I still care, because you will never be kind enough to deserve it. I will miss you more and more each passing day, but hate you when I remember how quickly you ran away.
