Being There For A Loved One

I was inspired to write this poem because being there for someone in their toughest moments of life is important. Also, my father once said to me, "If he/she's your first thought when you wake up in the morning and he or she is your last thought before you fall asleep, then you love that person."

I'd give all I have to stay yours,
for you are everything I adore.
You open up the door
to my heart and so much more.
When I sleep. you're in every dream,
no nightmares, not even a scream.
When we talk, I get this feeling
that lights me up like a star-covered ceiling.
You say I have to put up with you,
but little do you know, that's all I want to do.
So when you're feeling kind of blue,
just remember, I'm always here too.
