Hand in hand, we walk together.
God's grace warms us from above.
It's him I thank each day I wake
for blessing me with all your love.

The sunshine in my morning
and the bird that sings my song.
In this life, when I am troubled,
through God it's you who keeps me strong.

The wind beneath my wings
as this eagle takes to flight.
You are the stars that brighten up my sky
in the darkness of the night.

The mother of my children
and the air that gives me life.
My truest friend of all...
my heart, my soul, my wife.

My wife is battling a terminal illness that beset on her suddenly a few months ago. Today is our 12th anniversary and I wanted to share my feelings with her. This poem might as well have been written about me, it is that accurate. She has struggled with her belief in God for a long time, and this crisis has brought her closer not only to me, but also to our father in heaven. Yesterday, while tucking her in for the night, she spontaneously spoke out loud in prayer for the first time in our marriage. Her first wish? Not to heal her, but for God to support me and keep me strong as she suffers through her ailment. I could not hold back my tears and we both sobbed. The first line of the last stanza, "The mother of my children," does not apply to us as we do not have any children. I changed it to read "The keeper of our home," and that works beautiful for us. Thank you to the author for writing such a heartfelt poem. Thank you for making her day a little better today.

This poem says everything about my wife. She's my sunshine, and most of all she is my life. I love her more each and every day. God put us together for a reason to live out our lives through all the years' seasons

Fantastic poem! I've been looking for something to personalize my wife's birthday card, and this poem personifies how I feel my wife supports our family and my love for her.
Thank you, Andre' Cardenas, for being able to express in words what I am unable to do.

Even though I am not married, I was really touched by it. It really touched my heart because it speaks of a wonderful wife, which I hope to be in the future. I'm also a poet and wish to write inspiring poems like this one. The poem taught me a lesson of life. I wish you a happy life as a poet and I hope you keep reaching for the stars.
