21. Shadow Of Life
Walking in the shadow of fear,
drowning endlessly by a single tear,
running alongside self-discovery,
fearing the loss of self-recovery,
Walking in the shadow of fear,
drowning endlessly by a single tear,
running alongside self-discovery,
fearing the loss of self-recovery,
This poem makes me dream, dream of a life that one day might come true

When demons pick at my troubled mind
And the passage to sleep becomes harder to find,
I close my eyes, turn out the light
And listen to the music of the night.

I'm good enough;
I don't care what you say.
I'm proud of what
I accomplished today.
Wow! I absolutely, 100%, love this! I think this would be a good lesson for everyone to learn. People shouldn't just rely on others to compliment them, and just because somebody thinks...
I sit here now in darkness, living on my own,
A life of existence, white walls, my home
With rooms that sometimes resonated with laughter
Saw also tears of much sadness, pain, suffering, and anger.
Memories in my life fade away
As I replace them with others.
They are forgotten and stored away.
Although the memories are pushed to the side,
It's hard to trust someone who always lied.
It's hard to love someone who made you cry.
It's hard to care when you want to die.
It's hard to believe when you have no pride.
This is LITERALLY the story of my life. Well put!!
Life is like a maze.
You don't know where you'll end up,
But that's the way life is played.
I have been a foster child since I was 3 months. This life is crazy. #loveyourselfnomatterwhat
You could have given up,
but you kept on going.
You could have seen obstacles,
but you called them adventures.
Another good one! I enjoyed it very much. And I think most of us can relate; I know I can. Thanks for sharing.
Young, carefree, innocent,
You sing, laugh and dance,
Taking in all Gods' glory
At every single chance.
Famous Poem
I been scarred and battered.
My hopes the wind done scattered.
Snow has friz me,
Sun has baked me,
This poem was in a textbook of mine from the sixth grade. As a child, it resonated with me. It inspired me to write poetry. As a child, educated by white folk, I had no idea who Langston...
I was the sunshine that cradled your day
that tried to push the clouds away
I was the sand that ran between your toes
when you were four years old
Who would be the voice of this poem God or a Mother?
You look at me and only see the cracks,
Fractured, like a piece of glass.
Some are shallow and straight,
before the bullet it bit
before the candle is lit
before the last call
before the curtain falls
There is
a strength in you
you haven’t even
begun to find.
So true in that we really don't know how one will react until one has been there and has done it! Suffering is an important life experience. Great poem, thanks.
Time
Has always been there.
It was the beginning,
And it's going to be the end.
It was raining the day you told us,
And ever since I feel like it has not stopped pouring down.
I wish I could stop the rain falling,
And hold your head up and not let you drown.
My mother had cancer and just reading this tugs at my heart, and I start crying because I had the same experience as you. Just don't ever give up, things will get better. Just smile.
I hope you find peace in your battles
I hope you find light within the darkness
I hope you find comfort in your storm
I hope you find your smile within the tears
I feel as if I'm teetering
High above a dark, black hole,
And it's taking everything I have
Not to lose control.
You’re not alone in this; you know that, right?
There are others like you.
Hiding. Running. Wishing
for a desire they keep hidden
Famous Poem
I, too, sing America.
I am the darker brother.
They send me to eat in the kitchen
