Scared To Love Again Poem

I'm 18 years old, go to a JC, and just enjoy writing poetry. Most are about love and most are sent to my girlfriend. She has been a swimmer her whole life, which is why there are numerous references to the sea and mermaids. Hope you enjoy, and please give me some feedback. I'd really appreciate it.

Free Fall Down Into The Unknown

Free fall down into the unknown
give you my heart and relinquish my soul
it's best for what life shall bestow
so I take a big step in the unknown

Never look back, for this is the choice
don't question myself, and keep my mind poised
take a look up, thank God and rejoice
because the truth is, I know I made the right choice

So I follow the path and forget the past
this devotion and emotion, I'll make sure it lasts
with passion so wide and a love so vast
pain and sadness will be things of the past

This is so similar to how I feel. I am falling deep for someone, but I have been hurt so much that I am scared to death. Every relationship I have been in has hurt, my first and second cheated on me and my third just destroyed me. Now I am with my fourth who is so sweet, but I'm scared. People don't realize that when you get hurt it's like a knife cutting so deep that the wound is never fully healed and when it comes to love it's even worse because you trust them not to hurt you and it's just sad.
