  1. 21. Worthy

    you’ve got to look
    straight into the
    tired eyes of the
    woman staring back
    at you in the mirror
    and tell her that
    she deserves the
    best kind of love,
    the best kind of life
    and devote yourself to
    giving it to her
    all over again.

    The Best Version Of Myself

    To be kind,
    I must think.
    To be selfless,
    It's not about me.
    To be brave,
I must hold my head high.
    To be fearless,
    I can't always hide.
    To be grateful,
    I feel love from within.
    To be compatible,
    I'm no better than them.
    To truly be thankful,
I must have gratitude in mind.
    To be determined,
    I have to actually try.
    To be stress free,
    I have to keep self-soothing.
    To be energetic,
    I got to keep moving.
    To love unconditionally,
I need to love myself first.
    To be the best me,
    I must know my self-worth.

  3. 23. You Are Enough

Along the way I have learned a tough lesson: even in my imperfection I am still worthy of love, someone’s time, and a consistent feeling of wholeness.
My value is not connected to perfection, strength, or my ability to weather a storm. Which means that even on those days when I struggle to show up or feel ill-equipped, I am still a woman of worth and value

    You are enough
You have always been enough, and
    You will forever be

    no matter what you see
how you feel, or the lies you may

  5. 25. This Is Your Time

From Tanya Markul's first poetry collection, The She Book

    This is your time
to no longer be who you were,
    to rise from the embers,
    to be guided by Her.

    This is your time
    to be carried by Grace,
    out of the matrix
    and away from the race.

    This is your time
    to forever change the rest,
to untame, to shift, to lead,
    and live blessed.

  6. 26. Smile

How a smile on one's face calms him and keeps him happy.

    A Smile On Your Face

    Keep smiling throughout the day
To keep your tensions at bay,
Like a stroke of magical ray,
To make others happy and gay.

A smile on your face can weave magic,
Makes you forget all that is tragic,
    Keeps others around us ecstatic,
Helps us forget our worries and be nostalgic.

A pleasant smile just works like a dart,
Warms your mind and touches the heart,
Gives your day a perky start.
A smile on your face makes you happy and smart.

  7. 27. Your Wounds

You Are Stronger Than Your Scars

    Time doesn’t heal wounds
    to make you forget.

    It doesn’t heal wounds to
    erase the memories.

Time leaves you with a scar
to remind you of how you fought through it.

Time leaves you with a scar
to remind you of how you bled

    and how you survived.

    You survived.

  8. 28. Slow Down

    • By Vic Lejon
    •  Published by Family Friend Poems December 18, 2020

    slow down when your world
    is spinning too fast
when day and night are stuck in dusk
    make sure to enjoy life
    soak in the sunshine
    admire the moonlight
    witness how the clouds gather
    and disperse
how the wind chases the leaves
    across the street
    treasure the little moments
    that world will still spin
but you won’t fall off for taking
    a well-deserved break

  9. 29. I Am Worthy

I wanted to share my current mantra with you all, with the hope that it might help you feel worthy + mindful today. The world is heavy, but we do not have to carry it all at one time, and despite all of the hard decisions and weight of the day to day, you are doing your best, and that IS enough.

I am worthy. There is nothing
that can or will happen today that
    could convince me otherwise.

I am worthy. There is nothing
that can or will happen today that
    could convince me otherwise.

  10. 30. Keep Calm And Breathe

This poem delivers the message we all need at times of stress: "Keep calm and breathe." It is written in the form of a Rondeau.

A Rondeau is a French poetry form. A phrase from the first stanza is repeated as the last line of the second and third stanzas. It is made up of fifteen lines that consist of only two sets of rhymes throughout the entire poem: aabba aabR aabbaR.

    Staying Calm When Stressed

Keep calm and breathe when feeling stressed,
when life is tough. If you're depressed
    go for a walk, breathe in fresh air;
    talk to a friend you know will care;
don't keep those feelings all suppressed.

    Be honest, say if you're distressed;
those feelings need to be addressed.
There is a message I can share.
    "Keep calm and breathe."

You'll find when feelings are confessed
    and healing methods are accessed,
    tough times are easier to bear;
and I will say a little prayer.
These words will help you to destress:
    "Keep calm and breathe."

  12. 32. Thoughts For Life

    • By Annanya
    •  Published by Family Friend Poems October 2020

This poem is about life, as to what one should remind oneself each day. Life is about living this journey on earth. This journey of life might end any day. One ought to choose to live life.

    Living The Journey

    We are on this planet for a limited span of time;
Validity of our life's visa can end anytime.

    Begin your day with enthusiasm and end with satisfaction;
Work toward achieving your goals and do follow your passion.

    Waste not your energy on negativity;
Find your opportunity to be better when faced with difficulty.

Celebrate your honest efforts like you will when you attain success.
Failures shall be there; learn and keep going, nevertheless.

    Avail the most of this very present;
Never shall return the passing moment.

    The future is surrounded by clouds of uncertainty;
Let hope and faith be your guide till eternity.

  13. 33. Go With Grace

With a new month comes new hope and also the opportunity to express our love to those dearest to us, and wish them well. I'm blessed with three wonderful sisters, and this poem is for them.

Wishing Loved Ones A Wonderful Month

    Each morning of this month
When you rise upon your bed,
May it be with renewed grace
    To face the day ahead.

    May favor and laughter
Be what this new month will bring.
    May it give you breakthroughs
    And plenty reasons to sing.

May God's peace, like a river
    Overflow within your soul.
    May His tender, gentle whispers
Always heal and make you whole.

    May each passing week
    Only make your beauty abound.
May you remain a source of joy
    To all you have around.

    May the Lord's loving hand
Guide you each and every day.
And may you shine bright for Him
As you go along your way.

  14. 34. America The Beautiful

Katharine Lee Bates was inspired to write this poem while on a trip to Colorado Springs in 1893. When she reached the top of Pikes Peak, she had this to say. “All the wonder of America seemed displayed there, with the sea-like expanse." The first version of “America the Beautiful” was published in a weekly journal, The Congregationalist, on July 4, 1895. Revisions were made in 1904 and then again in 1913 to become the version we know today. It became a patriotic song sung to Samuel A. Ward’s tune “Materna."

    O beautiful for spacious skies,
    For amber waves of grain,
    For purple mountain majesties
    Above the fruited plain!
    America! America!
God shed his grace on thee,
And crown thy good with brotherhood
    From sea to shining sea.

    O beautiful for pilgrim feet,
    Whose stern, impassioned stress
    A thoroughfare of freedom beat
    Across the wilderness!
    America! America!
    God mend thine ev’ry flaw,
    Confirm thy soul in self-control,
    Thy liberty in law.

    O beautiful for heroes proved
    In liberating strife,
Who more than self their country loved,
    And mercy more than life!
    America! America!
    May God thy gold refine,
    Till all success be nobleness,
    And ev’ry gain divine.

    O beautiful for patriot dream
    That sees beyond the years
    Thine alabaster cities gleam,
    Undimmed by human tears!
    America! America!
God shed his grace on thee,
And crown thy good with brotherhood
    From sea to shining sea.

  15. 35. Solstice

Perhaps it is true that the smallest light is brightest when the night seems darkest.

    Let Your Light Shine

    We are only falling stars,
    Fleeting sparks that arc
Across the vast forever of time
    Through others' nights,
Only to return as dust to our maker.

And the most we can hope,
    In our one brief moment,
    Is to brighten their night,
    Lead them on their way,
Or just perhaps to grant their wish.

  17. 37. Life And Love

    • By Julie Coburn
    •  Published by Family Friend Poems May 2020

The poem is about life and death and the beauty of it all.

Life, Love, And The Legacy We Leave Behind

    Life's like a book -- a chapter, a page.
Remembering our youth as fast as we age.
Life is a song; we choose what to sing.
Living is hard; what will it bring?
Memories we cherish through family and friends.
Roots never broken; love never ends.
Life is a gift, so live it today.
Through struggle and heartache, we still find a way.
    Through happiness and laughter,
    Heartache and tears,
    Good times and bad times,
    Facing our fears.
From mountains to stars, our atoms are one.
The body may perish, but the soul lives on.
Life is the love we give and receive.
It defines our legacy and the mark that we leave.

  18. 38. Recipe For A Life Well-Lived

With these ingredients, you can't go wrong for a happy life...

The Ingredients For A Happy Life

Start off with faith and trust in God.
Then add courage; you'll need a lot.
    Take a few dreams and lots of inspiration;
Mix them with passion and dedication.

Flavor with a spoonful of optimism,
As well as with sufficient vision.
    Throw in some rewarding work,
    With satisfaction as a perk.

A pint of perseverance is necessary,
While the amount of patience may vary.
Don't forget an ounce of thankfulness,
And a full cup of love and tenderness.

Add a few quality friends to the mix,
And a pinch of adventure, just for kicks.
Also, you need three cups of good thoughts,
Zested with a million smiles or thereabouts.

    Joy and laughter are indispensable,
And a tad of hope, to be sensible.
    Throw in heaps of understanding,
    Because folks can be demanding.

Season with lots and lots of time,
And some deep questions to ponder.
Then pour over a sense of awe,
And lastly add some childlike wonder.

    Top off with family and readiness to forgive;
This is the recipe for a life well-lived!

  19. 39. If You Think

    • By Anisha Aich
    •  Published by Family Friend Poems April 2020

This poem is based on individuals who are afraid of moving forward and achieving their dreams. Due to taunts, they build up inferiority complex in themselves. So, my opinion is to move on with a positive attitude and you will get whatever you'd like.

Always Move Forward With A Positive Attitude

If you think you can reach the sky,
Why don't you flap your wings to fly?
Always give strength to your mind and soul.
One day you're gonna kick your goal.
You know you can; don't focus on others taunts.
The day will come for them to realize their faults.

If you can win and keep rest beside,
Don't let others for your future decide.
Work hard, work smart, and take the lead.
    Leave the fellows behind and you'll succeed;
Never spell, "I can't." Control your pain,
The sun will rise and reward you with gain.

Many more things are there to say.
Always move forward; there is a way.
Never lose hope; move on with a positive attitude.
The day will come to fill you with lots of gratitude.
If you think you can reach the sky,
Why don't you flap your wings to fly?

  20. 40. Mighty Oak

    • By Daniel Baker
    •  Published by Family Friend Poems April 2020

This poem is about suffering from anxiety and depression. It's about taking the beating and continuing to stand tall.

Standing Strong In The Midst Of Trials

If the mighty oak could speak the words
Of the times that it's been tried,
    It'd speak about growing roots
    Instead of how it died.

It'd say that it was strong enough
And stood the test of time.
Instead of falling to the ground,
It stood and held its line.

    It'd speak about lightning strikes
And wind that cracked its core.
    Though the dirt had softened,
It stood and took some more.

    Though the tree bares scars
Of the times that it's been struck,
    All the other trees around
    Gazed in pure awestruck.

Its roots dug deep and powerful.
No way it'd hit the ground.
The story of the mighty oak
    Is one that is profound.
