Poems about Inspiration and Hope

Genuine feelings of self worth, confidence, and happiness can be elusive. Sometimes you need a little inspiration to believe in yourself and find a source of motivation. Often other people's words or experiences can give you just that inspiration. They can also help you to live up to challenges, become the person you want to be, try new things, learn from your mistakes, and find happiness. Life may not be perfect, but it can still be beautiful. You just have to learn how to find inspiration in life, in spite of its many imperfections.

  1. 1. For All Those People

My name is Ella, and I am 13 years old. I wrote this poem for all those people who feel hopeless and lost in a fog of darkness. I just want to remind all of you that there is hope in this shallow world and that you DO matter.

This is for all those people
    Who hide in the dark,
    For those who feel hopeless,
For those with a broken heart.

Hi, I am a thirteen-year-old girl who has been secretly writing poetry since fourth grade, and I'm really glad you came to read my poem! This poem that I wrote is called "United" because I wanted to write a poem that was inspiring and could mean something to everybody out there. Stand up for what you love and what you know is right because in the end that is what will matter. I hope "United" can inspire you, and I really hope you like it. Remember to follow your dreams!

  5. 3. Never Give In

This is my first poem I ever wrote for a school project in 7th grade. I was looking through my computer files and stumbled across this. I thought I would share this here since I feel it can help inspire some people not to give up.

Sometimes in life the road becomes slippery and you tumble and fall.
But don't lose heart; just get up and forget it all.

When you think you've had enough and can't take anymore,

  6. 4. The Old Oak Tree

    • By Erica
    •  Published by Family Friend Poems November 2017

Hello! I am a 13-year-old girl who has secretly been writing poetry since fourth grade. This one is about the old and beautiful oak tree that I sometimes go out to and lay beneath when I just can't sleep. A lot of times I have trouble falling asleep thinking about someone, so I lie and watch the stars from beneath the branches of the old oak tree and try to let go of myself. I hope you like "The Old Oak Tree."

Sometimes at night I get up from my bed.
I go outside and I lay down my head.

On these cool fall nights, I lay in peace

  7. 5. Hold Your Heart

I was having some struggles with life. Everything seemed to be going wrong all at once, and I started doubting my faith and other things. Life became so hard for me, and I felt like I had nothing and no one. But then I finally turned to God and realized that he will always be there for me, even through my darkest hour.

Remember those days when you were young?
Life was as easy as it could be.
There were laughs and stories and dreams.
You saw the sunshine and you were free.

  8. 6. Your Worth

This poem was written by me during the times of hurt and suffering in my life. This is dedicated to the people who stay strong, even when they have every right to break down. This was meant to be an inspiration to others to not give up and to realize their worth. This came from my heart, and I really hope you guys enjoy it. I want to inspire people. I want someone to look at me and say, "Because of you, I didn't give up." I want this poem to be the reason that person never gave up.

    They say never give up.
    Never give in.
    Keep fighting that fight
    So the devil doesn't win.

  9. 7. I Follow My Dreams

    • By Delilah
    •  Published by Family Friend Poems July 2011

I am a fifteen-year-old girl, and all I really want is to become a successful writer. I know that in order to reach this goal I've got to start now, so I wrote this poem to explain how much I want to be a writer and how much I'll put up with to get there. This is a dream I want, and I'm willing to work until I get it. I will oftentimes sit on my bed and write short stories or poems, hoping that it will improve my way of writing to a successful level. I'll keep working to get to my dream!

    I get laughed at,
    I get ignored,
    I often feel trapped,
and I keep my thoughts stored.

  10. 8. Clear Vision

    • By Anne M. Snell
    •  Published by Family Friend Poems March 2018

My poem is about how I see myself. I see myself as broken, unlovable, and too far gone. But that's not who I really am. This poem is written from the perspective of someone who knows all of my issues. Who know all that I've done but doesn't care. He still loves me anyway. This is how I want to see myself. If you're out there and are hurting today, please know there is someone who loves you. Your story's far from over. You are beautiful, no matter what you've done.

    She longs to be pretty,
Because all she sees are her flaws.
She doesn't see that those "flaws"
    Are really her perfection.

  11. 9. Mirror

    • By Matthew Young
    •  Published by Family Friend Poems May 2015

The poem is about the idea of looking in a mirror and judging yourself. Comparing what you think is the truth, seeing only the negative, but someone else may see you in a completely different light.

    You see a girl
    Who is crying for help.
    She thinks she's alone.
    She hurts herself.

  12. 10. Life May Be Hard

    • By J8887
    •  Published by Family Friend Poems December 2016

The story behind this poem isn't much. Life as a teen can sometimes be challenging with the feelings that the world is against you and you don't have enough strength to keep going. However, most of us find our way into the brightness, beauty, and reality of the world, and we try to help those who haven't. Hopefully this poem will give a new perspective to not only teens but also to people who are having a hard time in life and think that they don't have the strength to keep going.

Don't stop and scream at the pebble that made you fall.
If you can't get up, at least crawl.
    You gotta move forward
    And never be cornered

I don't need to be a follower in order to be accepted. I am who I am. Accept me for who I am.

Just because I have never done drugs, doesn't mean I'm not cool.

  14. 12. Touching The Sky

    • By Shreya D. Chattree
    •  Published by Family Friend Poems August 2018

The poem is about a girl who wants to face all the ups and downs in life. She wants to challenge all the situations and then emerge as a free and mature bird who has discovered the whole sky, flying among the clouds. She wants to commit mistakes but only to learn from them. She wants to have a heart made of gold, which only stores love and has no hatred to show.

    Come for me, sweet tomorrow.
    Help me touch the sky.
Like a well-learned bird opens its wings,
I, too, want to fly high.

  17. 15. Let It Show

    • By Erica
    •  Published by Family Friend Poems February 2018

Hi! I am a thirteen-year-old girl who has secretly been writing poetry since I was in fourth grade. I love poetry with all of my heart, and here is another poem that I recently finished. This one is called "Let It Show," and it is an inspiring poem that I hope can appeal to the LGBTQ community and everybody else out there who wants to one day let their inner emotions and dreams shine. Don't let anything hold you back, and don't be afraid to show who you are on the inside. Love is love! Thank you! <3

When you look in the mirror do you see what I can see?
Your body and your spirit so unbreakable and free
When I look at every one of you, I hope you know I care.
I hope you know you're beautiful and not a soul on Earth compares.

  18. 16. Peace To Me

    • By Esther Ayisire
    •  Published by Family Friend Poems April 2015

Growing up as a young black girl, even in this day and age, is hard. You easily get judged or criticized because of the colour of your skin. Or maybe because of your accent. It gets so bad that even people of a mature age, who should know better, end up calling us coloured children or insulting the type of hair we have.
This poem isn't only for black people; it's for everyone and anyone. I hope this poem speaks to you as it did when I wrote it. Let us have a change of heart. God Bless!

When I think of peace, I see myself in a world where I can truly be myself,
Who I choose to be, where I can just let go and be comfortable with who I am

A world with no hatred, racism, or pain

  19. 17. I Wish To Be

    • By Zuleigha Z. Patel
    •  Published by Family Friend Poems November 18, 2021

I wrote the first draft of this poem a while ago while feeling inspired to write about what it is I want of myself. I felt unsure of who I really was, and my worth was in question too. Now that I have read it again and done re-editing, I feel re-inspired, especially since I recently have been feeling all this uncertainty about myself and what I'm capable of. It has managed to bring things back into perspective. I also know that everyone has a different vision of themselves.

The woman I wish to be
    She's flawless in her step
    And graceful in her actions
    She's unafraid of her abilities

  20. 18. Life Will Never Wait

    • By Elizabeth A Cox
    •  Published by Family Friend Poems July 2018

I'm that type of kid who hides from people. I like to cry in the shadows, and I sit away - alone and depressed. It's not good for my health, so I thought of doing something different by writing an inspirational poem to help me and hopefully many others who feel as I do. I have written many, many poems. Most of them are depressing and tragic. I will never get anywhere in life if I'm always depressed. I will only age faster and die before my time.

I used to be that girl,
The one who hid in the shadows,
The one who hid her face from others,
The one who drowned in her tears.
