  1. 61. Life Is Now

I wrote this poem with thoughts of my friend and family members who are currently going through some hardships in life. When they feel like giving up, I give them reasons to hold on. When they think so little of themselves, I help boost their esteem. I think that this poem is uplifting and motivational and may even be words someone else needs to hear.

Inspirational Poem To Uplift Your Spirits

    Time flies and memories fade.
People change and new friendships are made.
Only the true remain forever at our side.
Eventually the disappointment and pain will subside.

It is all about the journey and what has yet to come.
Life is what you make of it; you are what you've become.
Life is too short to hold onto regrets.
Forgiveness is key even though you may never forget.

Cherish the good and remove the bad.
Some people don't realize till it's gone what they've had.
Moving on is a way of life.
There will always be obstacles, pain, and strife.

You must believe that you are strong enough to fight.
You have to believe in yourself to do what is right.
Always do for YOU no matter what you do,
Because in the end the only one who has your back is you.

Never be afraid to take a stand,
And always be willing to lend a helping hand.
A little bit goes a long way.
All it takes is a smile to brighten someone's day.

Your chance to live is now, so what are you waiting for?
The world is yours for the taking and so much more.
Endless possibilities are forever at your disposal.
The chance to live another day is life's golden proposal.

Never let anyone tear you down,
And never let anyone steal your shine and make you frown.
So will you sit in the shadows and let darkness win again?
Or will you rise up and make the light your friend?

Here is your chance, so what will you do?
You've got this because I believe in you!

  2. 62. Fly!

    • By Linette
    •  Published by Family Friend Poems November 2016

I just wanted to take a moment to express my heart's creative desire to help uplift God's beautiful world with a short, simple poem offering a positive and caring vibration. I pray for an abundance of God's infinite blessings, health, peace and wonderful creativity to you all, dear friends.

A Positive Take On Living Life

    Open heart and open mind,
On a journey of a lifetime.
    Love and respect all,
Get back up when you fall.
    Beat your drum like only you can;
You're already part of the band!
    Shoulders back, head held high,
    Smile on. Ready...set...fly!

  3. 63. Pain Ends

Growing up, I always struggled so much with things going on in my mind. My parents were sick, I kept getting my heart broken, and I even got to a point where I started harming myself. Things cruel people had said to me always circled around in my head, and it made me hate myself. I was so lost. But when I turned 15, I met someone who made me see things differently. And I was finally able to let go. The war in my mind stopped. That's why I wrote this poem.

Encouraging Poem To Let Go Of What Hurts You

    Breathe in the fresh air,
    Put your mind at ease.
    Let down your hair,
Let it flow in the breeze.

    Let your eyes wander
To all the beauty to be seen.
If those toxic thoughts you still do ponder,
    Then let out a scream.

Scream until the pain is gone,
Until you no longer feel afraid.
Open your eyes to a new dawn,
    Let the darkness fade.

    No longer compare yourself
Or your flaws to others' perfections.
Take the negativity off the shelf.
    Focus on your direction.

Pick the sadness up off the floor,
    Sweep it into the wind.
    Close the door on self-hatred.
    Never let it back in.

For the lies it would often tell you,
    You will no longer agree.
Happiness and love are what you should hold onto.
They are whom you should give the key.

Pay no attention to the toxic thoughts,
Listen to those who adore everything you are.
Overthinking was what you once were taught,
But now those thoughts you put in a jar.

    Focus on your goals,
    Never lose your fight.
It's time to open new scrolls.
    Everything will be all right.

  4. 64. Don't Quit

Are you depressed or down in the dumps? Do you want to give up on your goals and just quit? If this applies to you, this is exactly what you have been looking for to motivate you to come back even harder and achieve your dreams.

Motivation And Inspiration To Fulfill Your Dreams

When times are hard, you might stop for a bit,
But it's not over until the moment you quit.
    On a river's bridge, failures are the planks;
Take one step at a time until you reach its banks.

    Don't give up on your dreams; chase them instead;
You will find, one morning, as you wake up from bed,
That you are the person about whom you dreamed,
And you can reach great heights, impossible though it seemed.

When things go wrong and your back is to the wall,
Try to stand up; no more can you fall.
Life is full of ups and downs; take them in your stride.
You will discover your little star hidden inside.

When you're in a crossroad in life and things feel frightening, I hope this can help.

    Poem About Taking A Chance

Do you think you stand a chance
    Diving off into the abyss?
Do you think that you'll advance
    Even without an assist?
Will you learn to find you wings
And travel to the paradise that life brings?
    Triumphant in your success,
    You can finally rest,
Assured that your future is bright
    And you did your best
To see that your seeds take flight.
    So why be in fright?
    You're already in a slump.
Why don't you take a chance
    ...and just jump?

Strength Through The Hard Times Of Life

Sometimes you may think you're alone,
And your feelings make you seem like a clone.
    Deep down you are whole,
    Not an empty bowl.
    Someone loves you,
And all the words they say are true.
    Trust in yourself
    To be strong
And true and whole and mighty.
    This time will pass;
    It's just a trial.
    Just walk down this aisle,
    Head held high;
    You're strong.

  7. 67. Even When

    • By LeSandra Hunting
    •  Published by Family Friend Poems June 2016

I wrote this poem that I hope will stick in people's minds. I have had to go through a lot, and I know that I should probably try and stay cheerful, so I started to write this poem. It really touched my teacher and my parents.

Poem Giving Hope To Those Feeling Down

Even when those storm winds are blowing,
I'll stand and fight them knowing
    I'm not alone,
    Not on my own.

    Even when there's hatred brewing,
    I know what I'll be doing;
    I'll laugh and smile,
    Send it away awhile.

Even when there's a huge earthquake,
    I'll stand tall and I won't shake;
    Let the pain go,
    Let my joy show.

Even when there's a strong hurricane,
    I'll wade unbending through the pain;
    Help those who've fallen,
    Welcome those who're calling.

    Even when someone's been deserted,
    I know they didn't deserve it;
    Become their friend,
    It's not the end.

  8. 68. Searching For Home

    • By Brittney Hemmands
    •  Published by Family Friend Poems June 2016

I'm a college student who is working on her English degree but has had a hard time this past year with staying focused in school. I have always craved traveling and searching for something more out in the world. I wrote this poem for those who feel like me and don't believe they belong in one place, but rather in all the places in the world. I wrote this for people who want to touch the lives of others without forgetting about their own life.

    Poem About Searching For Yourself

Her eyes glowed with such ambition,
And her mouth spoke words of love and kindness.
    She took pride in wandering;
She walked to find the places her heart longed for.
Oh, the places she searched to find her home.

She made her way through crowded paths
    And swam through salted waters.
    She danced in gardens
    And sweetly kissed strangers.
She ran, she searched, but still couldn't seem to find.

She failed to realize the lives she touched,
    And the hearts she changed.
She failed to realize the home her heart longed for
    Would never be found.
That the light she was chasing was not the world's.

    That light, her home,
    Had been following her footprints.
    She had not realized
She had held it all along.

  9. 69. Just Want A Happy Life

    • By Sadwick
    •  Published by Family Friend Poems May 2016

Sometimes I feel like life has so many things against us. Poverty. Personal issues. With these weights on our shoulders, we don't feel happy or we try to find it but can't. You can find it. You just have to preserve through it.

    Conquering Negativity In Life

    I live with depravity,
    Pressure like gravity.
    Why can't they just see
    I want to live happily?

    Surrounded by poverty,
    The cravings of obesity,
    Those dreams of reality.
    Why can't they just see
I want to be all I can be?

I try to live with simplicity,
But I get hit with hostility.
    People keep telling me
    You won't live happily.

    Forget all this negativity.
    I'm going against normality,
    Living a life of morality
In a world full of brutality.

    Spitting out blasphemy,
    Using profanity.
    Why not be in harmony?
    Treat strangers like family.

    Going to love unconditionally,
    I know my personality.
    Don't need this scrutiny.
I know who I will be,
    Just watch and see.

Life passes just once; we have to make the most out of it.

Inspiring Poem To Make The Most Of Our Lives

Life's too short to be wasted.
It passes just once, so make the most out of it.
Live life the way you want it to be.
Live it to the fullest, feel free!

Live as the sun shines in the sky.
Live as high as the birds can fly.
Live as the colors of a rainbow.
Live as far as the clouds can go.

Never waste it with worthless doubts and fears,
    With insecurities and useless tears.
Remember that what couldn't tear you makes you strong.
Put away frustrations, sing your own song!

Believe in what you can do.
The world is round; it's all up to you.
    Think fast, act now!
Time is gold; it couldn't be renewed.

    Value experiences, learn from mistakes.
Improve for the better, live for others.
Do what is right and what is best.
Always be yourself, unique from the rest.

Laugh as if there's no tomorrow.
Dance as though you'll never get through.
Love with all your heart and soul.
Sing like you're on the top of the world.

Forget the money, the root of all evil.
Treasure your loved ones; you're lucky they're still there.
Strengthen your faith, live with God.
The best things in life are for free, so why not?!

Inspirational poem encouraging a positive attitude in life.

Poem About Positive Attitude In Life

    Open your heart to happiness.
    Let every pore absorb light.
Swim in the joy of the here and now,
And cast off the darkness of night.
Walk in the summer of sunshine.
Fly in the blueness of sky.
    Know possibilities are boundless.
    Understand that nothing can die.
Step from the shadows of torment.
Sing 'til your throat gets too sore.
Smile for as long as the day is,
And laugh just a little bit more.
Breathe slowly and deeply and listen.
Give all your ideas a chance.
Let the sun beat down on your goodness,
And kick off your shoes and dance.

  12. 72. Think Pink!

    • By Ember Griswold
    •  Published by Family Friend Poems October 2015

I have a friend whose daughter has to recite a poem, and they wanted it to be on breast cancer awareness. I also have a friend who has fought the battle with breast cancer and has won, with the exception of losing both of her breasts in the process. It is a daily fight that she faces with the hope, love and encouragement of those around her. She is my inspiration for this poem.

Motivating Poem About Breast Cancer Awareness

Each month be sure to check your breasts
To ensure there aren't any unwanted guests.

Cancer's next victim I will not be.
    Checking yourself is the key.

Lumps and bumps I hope not to find.
Terrible tricks cancer plays on the mind.

    A doctor's visit once a year.
Will help to be sure you're in the clear.

The battle with cancer many have lost.
Not checking monthly isn't worth the cost.

October we celebrate those who fought and won,
And searching for a cure is never done.

You could be next if you don't stop and think.
October...breast cancer awareness...yes...I will think pink!

  13. 73. A Voice Behind

    • By Pearlyn
    •  Published by Family Friend Poems September 2015

Hope you like this poem. Never rest without success

Poem About There Always Being Hope

When into sorrow, my poor soul sinks
When a sound of despair in my heart rings
I'm strongly pushed to do my best
By a voice that says, "There is still hope you dare not rest."

When chains of sorrow surround me well
When in my self, I feel like hell
I'm forced to face life with its tests
By a voice that says,"There is still hope you dare not rest."

When I just feel like crying aloud
When all my worries rise like a cloud
I'm guarded safe like a bird in its nest
By a voice that says,"There is still hope you dare not rest."

From all my fears, I now am free
I'm good and strong, I could clearly see,
But can anyone say, is it from east or west
That I hear the voice, "There is still hope you dare not rest."

With hope and courage, I just am full
Because of the voice, that gave me a very strong pull
It's my loving God, the unseen guest
Who says,"There is still hope you dare not rest."

  14. 74. Don't Wait Until I Am Gone

    • By Jennifer Fernandes
    •  Published by Family Friend Poems April 2015

My father passed two years ago, within six weeks of his diagnosis. Since both my parents lived with me, I spent a great deal of time with him. I bought him cards just because. I told him I loved him all the time, even when he made me mad. Although I was grieved on his passing, the way we lived gave me comfort, and I was able to let go of my grief in a timely manner. This poem is just a reminder to everyone that life is very precious. We are here today, but what if tomorrow never comes.

Make The Most Of Time With Loved Ones

Treat me with love, dignity, respect and compassion
Now as I am healthy, vibrant and alive.
Don't wait to hear that I am sick and dying
To love me the way I was meant to be loved.
Bring me flowers and candy on any day just because.
Don't wait for a holiday, love and cherish me every day.
    Tell me I am beautiful.
See my beauty in my body and soul.
Don't wait to see that I am disfigured
And then tell me that I am beautiful
Because you think that is what I want to hear.
Talk to me lovingly now so I can hear your beautiful voice
And listen to the ringing of your laughter.
Don't try to talk to me that way now
That I am deaf and can no longer hear your sweet voice.
Speak words of love and compassion
So I can remember those conversations
Even though I may not be able to hear them again.
Come one day and you will be sad, you will be sorry!
Treat me like a human being with a life
That needs to be lived my way...not yours!
Remember that our Creator gave you your own life
To live the way you please.
    Leave me to live mine!!
I do not tell you what you should or should not do...
I just listen and give you support.
Why can't you do the same?
I am this way and you are that way.
    That's because we are different...
    We are unique...can't we compromise?
Bury the hatchet and move along.
Free your body, free your soul.
Let's just take the precious time
We have now to live and to love...
Everything else will slowly fall into place.
Now I am sick and dying.
You are now trying to love me, to bring me flowers,
To stroke my hair and to speak loving words.
Why did we waste all those years, all that time...
Just to be where we are now,
Now when I am too weak, too sick to enjoy your gifts?
    Love me now...
    As your sister, your brother,
    Your husband, your wife,
    Your niece, your nephew,
    Your daughter, your son...
Don't wait until it is too late!
Don't wait until I am gone...

  15. 75. This Is A Daily Reminder

I wrote this poem for anybody who needs a daily uplifting reminder. I am a firm believer that one positive thing can make a person's day, and that is the message I try to include in my poems. I know when someone says something nice or uplifting to me, my day is made. I hope this and my future poems help you guys out. For whoever is going through a hardship, stay strong, I'm here for you.

Uplifting Poem About Living A Better Life

    This is a daily reminder
    To relax,
To not get angry over small things,
    To stay calm.

    This is a daily reminder
    To be yourself,
To not care what people think,
To know you can be anything.

    This is a daily reminder
    To love yourself,
    To not hurt yourself,
    To not work yourself up.

    This is a daily reminder
    That you are beautiful,
    That you are amazing,
    That you will succeed.

    This is a daily reminder
    To always have hope,
    To have faith,
To know everything will be okay.

    This is a daily reminder
That you have made it so far already,
    That you haven't given up,
That whatever you're doing is right,
And that you are going to be amazing.

  16. 76. Time Goes By

I wrote this poem as I considered how often it is that we go through life assuming and judging others, while we do not fully understand their actions. At the time I wrote this poem there was a lot of distress in my family, and I realized that so often we become disconnected, angry, and hurt that it impacts our relationships. The poem speaks of forgiveness and understanding that we only have individuals in our lives for a certain amount of time and that it is better to heal rather than to blame.

    Living With Strength And Love

Time goes by and slips away
Just as the sky turns from blue to grey.
We are here but only for a short stay.
Don't let life pass with words you never say.

Don't live in anger, with fear and regrets.
Seek forgiveness and lay your pain to rest.
Don't judge too quickly, as you may be wrong.
Instead, choose to live life as an uplifting song.

When tears fall, wipe them away
As they will only last but for a day.
Sometimes we hurt because we care.
    Sometimes life seems unfair.

We make mistakes we wish we could change
And wonder how our life could be rearranged.
Second chances last only for so long, reach out to others
As we are all sisters and brothers.

There are angels in heaven that watch us every day.
They look over us as we laugh and play.
Live with joy, and when you lie down at night,
Thank the Lord and release any strife.

  17. 77. I Am Not A Victim Of Breast Cancer

    • By Laura Barnes
    •  Published by Family Friend Poems August 2013

Originally from England, Laura Barnes has lived and worked as a teacher, trainer and life coach across four continents. Laura now lives happily in Gilbert, Arizona, and is the Owner/Founder/Chief Coffee Maker at Your Potential Power, a heart-centered life coaching practice. Laura is also an online instructor at the Southwest Institute of Healing Arts in Tempe, AZ. She is currently in training for her June 2012 climb of Mt. Kilimanjaro for charity. Laura would love to hear from you.

    Poem Of Overcoming

I am not a victim of breast cancer. I am experiencing breast cancer.
I am not dying. I am living.
I am not curing. I am healing and restoring.
I am not fearing. I am loving and trusting.
I am not fighting. I am ceasing all hostility and conflict.
I am not weak or diminished. I am strong and whole and complete.
I am not coping or hoping. I am giving and receiving, creating and conceiving.
I am not crying. I am laughing until the tears run down my leg.
My body is not my enemy. My body is my loving friend, my gentle guide.
My life story is not history. My life story is legendary.
I am not powerless. I am powerful beyond measure.
I am not a drop in the ocean. I am the ocean in a drop.
I am not scattered. I am aligned.
I am not being destroyed. I am building my sacred stature.
I am not trapped or caged. I am as free as a feathery fledgling.
My body is not a muddy puddle of despair. My body is a hallowed temple of spirit.
I am not filled with shadows. I am filled with illuminating light.
I am not a passive puppet. I am an active advocate and enthusiastic participant.
I am not tired and bested. I am tied and invested.
I am not without a voice or meaning or purpose. I am an angelic messenger.
I am not discarded. I am needed.
I am not descending, dragging or faltering. I am consistently inspiring and uplifting.
I am not dwelling in the reflections of the past or the projections of the future. I am joyfully dancing naked in the unfolding mystery of the present moment.
I am not alone or abandoned. I am infinitely connected by the soft, silky vibrational threads of love.
I will not forget. I will remember.
I will not burn out. I will sparkle forever.

One moon can light your darkness,
One star can guide your soul,
One step will start each journey,
One hope to make your goal,
One hand to hold in friendship,
One heart that's kind and true,
One Love...One friend, is all you need,
    It's really up to you.

  19. 79. The Ride

    • By Sean Parekh
    •  Published by Family Friend Poems August 2012

My poem is simply about life and how it is a journey for all of us. How we shouldn't worry about where we are going but just enjoy the ride. How we should go after what we believe in.

    Accepting Life As A Journey

I don't know where this ride is taking me.
I don't know when to let go.
All I know is I'm in it for the journey
To give me more and more.

    I chase dreams I don't yet know.
I try to be something I don't even know.

I look for things I cannot find.
I believe more in my heart than my mind.

I play for things that cannot be won,
I learn to fly before I run.

I make fire on what can't be burned.
I teach things that cannot be learned.

I don't know where this ride is taking me.
I don't know when to let go.
All I know is I'm in it for the journey
To give me more and more.

  20. 80. Homage To My Hips

Lucille Clifton was an American poet who lived from 1936-2010. Her poetry celebrates her African American heritage and usually includes feminist themes, which can be seen in this poem. In "Homage to My Hips," she shows she is proud of who she is. She won’t conform to expectations or be held back. That can even be seen in how she chooses not to capitalize the first letter of a new line.

    these hips are big hips
    they need space to
    move around in.
    they don't fit into little
    petty places. these hips
    are free hips.
they don't like to be held back.
these hips have never been enslaved,
they go where they want to go
they do what they want to do.
    these hips are mighty hips.
    these hips are magic hips.
    i have known them
to put a spell on a man and
    spin him like a top!
