  1. 21. There's No Obscurity

    • By Astrid Sardinas
    •  Published by Family Friend Poems May 2009

The poem, "There's No Obscurity," is a Shakespearean-style sonnet and was inspired by various romantic novels that I was reading at the time. It describes a type of love only witnessed as a princess in a fairy tale, yet also portrays realistic emotions, such as doubt. In the end, the message is that the love she has for him is more real to her than any possibility of loss.

As I gaze into his liquid gold eyes,
Poetry radiates from his warm soul
His lips brush mine and I soar through the skies
Passion seizes me; I loose my control

An amalgam of thoughts pierce through my mind
There is love, trust, yet I feel petrified
I know destiny; our fate's intertwined
But what if he's a dream, one I'm denied?

A thousand years I could spend with those suns
Amid his presence I've conquered all realms
I've witnessed beauty that forever stuns
And have basked beneath his forest of elms

Then and there, I grasp truth with clarity
He's in my arms; there's no obscurity

  3. 23. For Someone Special

    • By Tommy B
    •  Published by Family Friend Poems January 2009

This poem is about a girl who is a friend of mine, but I don't know if she feels the same way about me.

The fear of rejection was stopping me, but I don't have the time to waste.
I'm past cloud 9 when I place my hands around your waist.

I know lately things have been kind of crazy,
but there is no denying it girl; I want you to be my baby.

I want to be the one you talk about when you talk to your friends about the one you're loving,
The one you can run to, the one you can confide in.

    I want to be the one to keep you warm when it's cold;
give you a hand to hold.

Someone to depend on when life gets rough.
When you're not here, pictures and dreams just aren't enough.

Sometimes I cant find the words to describe your beauty,
and don't disagree, you look pretty hot to me.

I want to be the one to loosen the cuffs when they too tight.
I'm the one who will have you smiling from the break of dawn till the late night

'Cause the truth is if the angel of death came to me tonight to take me off this earth,
my last wish would be to see your face first.

I know there is no angel that could ever match your beauty and style.
Nobody on heaven or earth can come close to that beautiful smile.

  4. 24. Life Moves Way Too Fast

    • By Brenda L. Schafer
    •  Published by Family Friend Poems February 2006

From a woman to her man: Let's resolve to be grateful for the gift of our love and not get caught up in matters of unimportance.

You're the reason I get up to face each hectic day.
How did our lives get so consumed with nonsense along the way?

We used to take the time to laugh and play a game or two,
But now it seems we fight a lot and cry way too much, too.

So when you go to sleep at night, I'll slip in by your side.
I'll hold you close and squeeze you tight and feel amazing pride.

You're the one that I love best; it's very clear to see.
With every day I know I'm blessed that you're a part of me.

Now let's just try to slow it down and savor all that's passed.
For that's what molds our future, and life moves way too fast.

  5. 25. The Music Of Love

    • By Inviron
    •  Published by Family Friend Poems August 2015

This is a poem comparing the rapture felt in melodic duets with the emotional highlights of a couple in love.

Poem About The Harmony Of Two People In Love

Our song of love is pure and fair
All hurt the music can repair
As heaven comes to us on earth
And makes us one in our rebirth
And now we're open to the tune
The world may fall but we're immune
It binds us two in sweet refrain
And twirls us 'round and 'round again
Each heart in harmony now beats
And lifts us both up from our seats
To dance and swirl in unison
In perfect pitch, us two made one
Each giving up the solo roles
    And harmonizing with our souls
    An orchestra of pure delight
Our song lights each and every night
This tune a symbol like a dove
    A perfect melody of love

  6. 26. Prisoner Of My Mind

A poet imagines being in love.

Imaginary world where I don't belong
The only thing that keeps me here is you
Kissing me softly holding me tightly
    Prisoner of my mind

    Racing thoughts through my head
Un-controlling feelings that bind my soul
    Release me
    Untie me
    Yet never let go

Why do I stay where I don't belong
    Why do I hold on
    These thoughts are so real
I cant tell my own reality anymore
    You consume me
    Control me
    Take me

Imaginary world where I don't belong
The only thing that keeps me here is you
Kissing me softly holding me tightly
    Prisoner of my mind

I cant let go of your lingering touch
For even in reality I feel you there
    Consuming me
    Controlling me
    Taking me
    Desperation of the mind
    Prisoner in my own right
Reality is a burden I cannot bare

    Passion consumes me
    The thoughts consume me
    You consume me
    Release me
    Untie me
    Yet never let go
    For I am your prisoner
    Prisoner of the mind

    Years ago I knew you
    It seems so long ago

    All those years before

As if you never left me
    You never left my side
As if time never passed us
But oh the time did fly

    • By Rebecca J. Turner

The author writes about a hero in her life.

    You are the world,
    As seen through perfect eyes.
    Your tenderness, your love,
    Ever present in your actions.
Your smell lingers in my memories,
    Even when you're gone.
    I will never forget it.
    Pain, hurt, regret,
    All find themselves,
    Too tired to trudge on,
    In the fierce protectiveness,
    Of your arms.
Wisdom is carried in every word,
with the sound of your voice,
    And the way you smile,
    Is the greatest argument,
    That goodness exists.
    You have never caused pain,
Yet you have vanquished many evils.
    You are the greatest hero,
    That I have ever known.

  10. 30. Loving You

    • By Dave Tanwar
    •  Published by Family Friend Poems January 2009

This is for someone very special...

today a drummer boy told me you are falling in love with me
or was it your heart beating when I kissed the bosom of thee
it was the time when the Nox was at her young
and I was kissing you and its silence who sung

in the midst of the dark
I held you tight in Hyde's park
    you were truly looking something
like an angel spreading her wing

I felt it is not the beauty for which I should love you
it is not the quality at all for what I must trust you
but is thou's way of giving love
and the way you want to be loved

whilst I kissed you from top to toes
your soft body felt like a winter rose
Oh so soft, as one can be
softness that was never earlier felt by me

I drank wine every time I kissed your lips
you tried to speak but they only lisp
I wished from heart to keep loving you
till the sun shower snow & eternity will be new

    • By Michel Joseph Ortiz

This poem is written about my fantasy romance

    Fantasy Romance

    Your beauty is unspeakable.
    Your love is inescapable.
And I have fallen deep for you.
    The heavens twilight stars,
    Lit up the night sky,
And I saw you through the midnight gloom.
    Winters death,
    Took away my breath,
And stopped the bloom of love.
But the radiance that came from you.
    Reflected off the snow,
    Melted away all my fears.
    And dried all my tears.
Now I pray to see you again.
    In the chilled wind,
    I smell your perfume.
My love is only for you.
How long I've waited to see your face again.
    I wish this wouldn't end...
    I wish I could send,
A love letter straight to your heart.
From me to you, my love is true.
A vampire, I wait outside my tomb.
    To see you again
To be in a lovers sin...
    I pray unto the gods.
    I pray unto it all.
    So I wont fall,
    Far from you...
Just please my lover take my heart...

I've known my boyfriend since we were babies, and I thought maybe if he was looking up poems that he'll read this...

Poem About Spending Time With Boyfriend

    Can we just run away
    Together, just me and you?
    Have fun, forever play.
You know, just the two of us.

Can we just leave this place,
    Just run hand in hand?
    Be together all our days
    And never ever look back...

    Can we just walk
    Together under the stars?
I'll kiss your hand and your lips,
And you can have my heart.

    Can we just laugh?
    Innocent giggles, loving looks.
I'll have your love and you can have mine
Because it's my heart and love you took....

    Can we just walk
    For hours on end?
    We'll talk about anything
And we can lay upon your bed...

  14. 34. Just A Slight off The Mark

    • By Steve Fockler
    •  Published by Family Friend Poems January 2009

This is my first poem ever, inspired by pain, passion and a love that can never be. This poem is for the only woman that has ever held my heart the way she does. Our story is one that may never possess a happy ending. But, I drawn warmth from my love for her and the love I know she shares.

She is my soul mate there shall never be another.

Just A Slight Off The Mark

You are the one I have known throughout the years.
Together sharing each others dreams hopes and fears.
You are the precious one that could have only come from above.
The more that I know you the more I must ask, could this be love?
Grand feelings, never gone from our hearts and not far from the mind.
On this journey a path awaits us both, but apart we must find.

Our timing not right just a slight off the mark.

To my joy I hear that lovely voice and your beautiful face.
I don't feel a moments has passed since we last left this place.
That feeling of peace and warmth from your arms, truly second to none.
The one that I know and the one who knows me, could this be the one?
Her eyes, her lips , my heart beats fast at the mention of her name.
Both on this path of life, something different, but our paths not the same.

Our timing not right just a slight off the mark.

Then fate again brings us together once more.
Our hearts charged with feelings we've not felt before.
I close my eyes and see the perfection in you smile.
Your presents, your smile, a love not felt in a long while.
Our hearts forever entwined the truth has always been there.
The love, the heat, the passion as we become one without care.
My heart is yours I happily give without shame.
Once again torn apart, our paths not the same.

Our timing not right just a slight off the mark.

I carry you silently in my soul, our love strong and true.
No one before has possessed my heart such as you.
All since have paled in the radiance of you eyes.
None other will have my heart no matter how she tries.

Our timing not right just a slight off the mark.

I pray for that wonderful day when our time finally arrives.
Our day to dance, our day to love, our day to truly share our lives.
Our hearts joined as one, a union that will surely last.
The day to declare to all our silence a thing of the past.
To proclaim daily this tribute of love that shall end never.
You are my best friend, the love of my life, now and forever.

Our timing finally right forever on the mark.

  15. 35. Our Son

    • By Tina L. Sistrunk
    •  Published by Family Friend Poems February 2006

A mother writes to the father of her child, telling him of the bond that exists between them.

Romantic Poem On The Bond Of Creating Life

    What a glorious day
When our souls intertwined and our hearts danced together.
When you flowed in me and a flower blossomed inside.
When a heart began to beat
Life awoke from sleep all because of us.
Our blood joined and formed a third party
Like a supernatural show of illusion.
    Slowly a human was formed
Inside of another, implanted by yet another.
We amaze me, he amazes me!
You helped me achieve what none can do alone.
I gave you a piece of you and you a piece of me.
    The amazing transformation
from inside to the world was just overwhelming.
    I wish you were there.
Just the fact that our baby
a living, breathing creature of God
Came and looked at the world for the first time.
He took his first gasp of air, made his first sound.
    We created life together.
A bond was built forever in that instant
That you touched so deep and implanted yourself.
Every time I look at him I see you
    I see me
    I see yesterday
    I see today
    I see tomorrow
    I see eternity.
    I feel joy
    I feel love
    I feel loss
    I feel pride
    I feel wisdom
    I feel strength
    I feel stability
    I feel real.
I love us so much, for together, we created our first son

  16. 36. You Got Me Writing

I wrote this poem for a boy I really like.
I wrote because I felt strong feelings, but this time it was good feelings, not bad like I've usually felt.

    I haven't written a poem,
Since the last time I was hurt,
    I haven't written a poem,
Since my heart was ready to burst,
But now you got me writing,
    Not because I'm sad,
    Now you got me writing,
    About things I never had,
I never had someone call me,
And tell me they care for me,
    I never had any one,
Just stop and stare at me,
And tell me that I'm pretty,
    Even when I looked bad,
And tell me that I'm sexy,
And tell me to never be sad,
    I've written you these poems,
So you would know how I feel,
I want you to know I want you,
And I want you to know I'm real.

    • By Kandice Campolo

Just lost love that doesn't know where to go, so if I gave my love to all I don't know, then I will be here even after I'm gone from this world, just my way of helping

I crawl in bed and lay my head upon my pillow, with thought's of the day falling away
Behind my eye's your face comes to me with love, I can see your trust for me in your eye's
    Your windows,
I reach out my hand to you as you turn to leave me. I touch your hand you stop I move to face you to see your soul
As I come to your face only for you to turn away again what are you hiding from, let me see, you tell me that you're worthy of love, you're not free in your heart, you don't know how to give your heart away
Pain keep's you scared afraid to be open, fear has you frozen, I place my hand's along your face bring you down to my eye's look deep within your window's to your soul
I see your fear there holding tight to you, I place my lip's to yours and breathe your air in, in return I breathe mine into you, with one deep breath your wall's fall and a new feeling is replaced,
Love is now within you I close my eye's and kiss you good bye, you ask me to stay why must you go you say, I say I have gifted you, my love is now yours keep it safe, share it, love like never before, share the gift we are all giving,
I turn from you and walk away with joy in my heart, my love for you now is never ending, you will always carry me within your soul, even though I have never been with you.

  18. 38. When The Storm Comes Around

    • By Hunter Dasten
    •  Published by Family Friend Poems January 2009

This poem speaks of a devotion that can truly weather any storm.

Devotion That Can Weather Any Storm

Should you find yourself at the captain's helm,
as everyone around you is jumping ship.
    Do not lose your stride.
    Do not miss a step.
Because I will be right beside you,
    braving the storm.

As the cruel dark clouds loom just above the bow,
and the torrential rains begin to fall.
Your nerves may get the best of you,
    but that is perfectly natural.

All you must do is reach out and take my hand.
I will calm those panicked thoughts
    causing your mind to spin.

I will stand at your side through hurricane force winds,
and together we'll be able to keep our footing.
Life may attempt to send us to the ocean depths,
but together we will survive this hellish night
    to see the sun again.

    Romance Between Two People

    have fallen for
the presence of a large band
moving every heart in the room.

    Hearts have fallen too.

    Long flowing gowns
    and beautiful hair
the rhythm and rhyme of three four time.

Sharpness is a well dressed man
firmly leading his partner to the depth of herself.

    A sight to behold.

    The display may linger...

    Enlightened by crystal chandeliers,
    captivated by eyes
speaking in a whirl of emotion.

    The call of leather.
    The scent of a woman.

    A playground for the soul.

  20. 40. You Were The One

After being confined to a wheelchair ever since I was 3 I found that through writings I could be what ever I wanted to be. From short stories, to RP I could walk, dance, hike and just do what every other normal person takes for granted. This poem written about 3 years ago after I came down with MRSA which almost caused me to die. I had to be home bound for 4 months & all I could do while I was recovering was to write. Eventually I got better & this is where it began~

Through you I can be everything that I long to be
From walking in the park to dancing in the dark
To as far as ones imagination can see

Before you came into my life I was just an empty shell
Who thought that I would always have to
Remain sitting here in my own hell.

Everyone takes something for granted each and every day
From a cool drink of water, to the feel of one's touch
Until it's taken one does not realize how those
Simple things are missed so much

Often people live in the past while their
Present moves by so incredibly fast
When one needs to stop and smell the roses
Instead of letting them pass right by their own noses

People come and go through out your life
Like fleeting thoughts running through your mind
They also speak of kismet; many never get it,
    some never know it
We don't choose it because it chooses us.

You were the one that came into my life
You found a place in my heart
So from this moment on we will never be apart.

    You Were The One
