It seems like only yesterday
You wiped away my tears
As I called your name
To fight away my fears.

When you didn't respond,
I knew you weren't coming back.
I realized then you left me
And that you were to slack.

Are you alive?
Or are you dead?
Do you love me? And do you care?
Sometimes I wonder what's going through your head.

Dad,
Always keep to your heart
That I miss you,
And my love for you will never part.

Dear Father,
On this day I have nothing to look back at and reminisce. My memories of you are few. I can count on my fingers the times I have seen you, less than that the times we have truly spoken. You missed my choir performances, my high school graduation, my wedding. You never gave me away. Although you came for my first daughter's birth, now you don't even know her name. I quit trying long ago to reach out to you. All the pictures I sent you, invites, or anything else were all in vain. Never did you call me on my birthday or Christmas, and when you did call it was only to criticize. So to my absent father who never showed love nor concern or even cared who missed all these years, all my smiles, my dreams, and my tears, it's just another day. HAPPY FATHER'S DAY to all the real daddies out there, the ones who really care, please take good care of your little girls and your little men, because one day they may write you a letter like this.
