Happy Birthday Poems For Family - Touching Birthday Poems

A Birthday Celebration is a life affirming event. Celebrating a birthday is making a statement that your life is significant and meaningful. You are saying, my life is worth living and therefore I am celebrating that I am alive for another year. It is a time to get together with friends and family and celebrate the life that you are living.

Birthdays may also be a time of melancholy reflection if we are not happy with our current station in life. For this reason it is good to have family and friends close to you to let you know how special you are.

  1. 1. Happy Birthday, Daughter

    • By Alora M. Knight
    • Published by Family Friend Poems January 2019 with permission of the Author.

My daughter, Marsha, was born on Friday the 13th and my son on Mother's day. It should have been changed around. Although there were the teenage tangles, I have had a wonderful relationship with my daughter. She was my strength through my divorce, and I was there for her when her marriage dissolved. She's given me one grandson and 4 beautiful grandchildren. Now I'm 98 and she is the one helping me, sharing the good things in life.

    in Birthday Poems

Many are the joys in life.
I'm blessed with quite a few.
Still, most of all I'm grateful
To have a daughter just like you.

I remember well when you were born,
The joy that filled my heart.
When I first held you in my arms,
I loved you from the start.

It was always such a pleasure
To see your precious life unfold.
    Learning new things every day
    Brought happiness untold.

The child in you, I still can see.
    A glimmer here and there.
    The smile when you anticipate,
    A tugging at your hair.

Though no one knows the future,
What each one has in store,
    I know whatever happens
    I couldn't love you more.

So on this special day of yours,
Know the love that's there for you.
Not just today, but every day,
    Will last a lifetime through.

  2. 2. My Dearest Sister

    • By Aimee Tran
    • Published by Family Friend Poems December 2010 with permission of the Author.

I am just grateful to have such loving sisters. You are always there for me, no matter what I do or say. You have always been very forgiving and caring.

    in Birthday Poems

Sister, you are a guardian angel in disguise.
You are perceptive, intelligent, and wise,
Always helping me through good and bad.
You are also the greatest friend I've ever had.
If I could have one wish, it would be
To give you all that you have given to me.
Though I've put our relationship through some hazy days,
You've been the sunlight that has shone in so many ways.
Through my ups and downs, right by me you stood,
And you gave me your hand whenever you could.
Though I am sure my mistakes will not end here,
You're always there to keep me away from my fears.
I don't doubt some of your headaches are from me.
With all the times you lecture and tease,
I stand there upset and displeased.
Though I tell you I can't stand you,
You come back with, "That's not true."
    We've had our fights,
    Which lead to sleepless nights,
But in the end, I thank you so much.
My appreciation for you has no end.
You will always be my sister and my friend.

    Happy Birthday, Sister!

    • Published by Family Friend Poems February 2014 with permission of the Author.

These birthday wishes go for my loving husband who is away from me.
We are compelled to stay separate when he is on career course. The separation has strengthened our bond of love. When some important family occasions arises in the course of life, I miss my husband's presence. With the drooping heart, I keep my neck stiff and manage the show. This time, it's his birthday today and we are not together...

    in Birthday Poems

    Though at the moment
    we are poles apart
in my thoughts, in my actions
    you are in my heart...

Each moment I think of you
    though you are not near
    Here come my wishes
to pray for you, my dear...

    In your life ahead
may all your dreams come true
    And you learn something
    special and new...

    May your worries
    all fade away
    And every happiness
    embrace you each day...

    May you always get
    love and peace of mind
    and togetherness with
    the one of your kind...

    May your each day ahead
    end with a bliss
    And what's more,
    with a good night kiss...

    Yet another year,
    now has passed
    Giving you the wisdom
    little and vast...

    Forty three years
    have fallen behind
    Next many and more
    in a row are aligned...

    Wishing you a Very
    Happy Birthday my soul mate,
    To count the years ahead
    May the God forget !

    • By Joydip Dutt
    • Published by Family Friend Poems January 2019 with permission of the Author.

Special occasions such as birthdays are the appropriate time to convey to our loved ones how much they mean to us, how much we care for them and how much they are valued. This poem is dedicated to my spouse, who happens to also be my best friend.

    in Birthday Poems

    Out of all the blessings
    Life has bestowed on me,
You are the loveliest of all -
This is not hard to see.

Even with the ups and downs,
    The happiness and hardship,
    Through challenges and success,
    We maintained our friendship.

    And with each passing day,
    I understand and realize
Some things are meant to be
When I look in your eyes.

And this is my wish not just for your birthday.
May God bless you in every step of the way.

  7. 5. Don't Forget

    • By Vicki Fearnley
    • Published by Family Friend Poems July 2016 with permission of the Author.

This is a poem about stopping and remembering the sacrifice your mother has made for you. Yes, you may not always see eye to eye, and your mother may one day break your heart, but she gave up more than you could ever imagine. No matter what, you must always remember that she loves you and did what she thought was best.

    in Birthday Poems

Your birthday is the day I remember
all the wonderful things you do.
Time will fly; each day goes by,
and I've forgotten to  say, "Thank you."

Thank you for teaching me strength,
to have confidence while I grow,
for helping me through my biggest challenges,
and for teaching me what I know.

Although our paths may be distant,
and we spend so much time apart,
    remember you are the one
who made the essence of my heart.

I will love you until my last breath,
    this I know for sure,
as you are the first love I ever had,
and so I will love you forevermore.

  8. 6. Today Our Twins Turn One!

    • By Jamie Anderson
    • Published by Family Friend Poems October 2011 with permission of the Author.

I'm a wife and a mother of three. Nearly a year and a half ago we got the surprise of our lives--I was expecting twins! We were scared at first and struggled to make sense of what having twins would mean for our family. We'd just moved to a new state, we had no family nearby and our son loved being an only child. This poem reflects on the past year as we've adjusted to our growing family, and it celebrates how much we love and cherish our newest additions.

    in Twin Poems

"It's twins!" the tech told me, giving me quite a fright.
"Are you sure?!?" I had asked, wondering if I'd heard right.
But sure enough, there you were, up there on the screen
And I tried to make sense of what it all would mean.

Double the feedings, double the tears,
Double the changings and double the fears.
Just how would I nurse you both at the same time?
And how would I choose who to hold if you're both crying?

How much would you cost this already strapped family?
Diapers, food, college... just the idea was overwhelming.
And how would I care for my other dear son,
When I've only two arms with which to hold everyone?

The future seemed scary or daunting at least.
My mind raced with questions, my heart skipped some beats.
But then I remembered that you were both formed in love
That you were two miracles, gifts sent from above.

How could I be worried, what gave me the right?
We would figure it out, what seemed dark would become light.
And soon enough the time came, after nine very long months
Two bundles of joy were delivered to us at once.

We counted your fingers, we counted your toes,
They totaled twenty on top and twenty below.
You were both the most perfect little angels we'd seen.
And we couldn't believe just how lucky we'd been.

Now a year has flown by, where does the time go?
It seems like just yesterday we were bringing you home!
You couldn't be more different even though you are twins.
Though you both love to laugh and discover new things.

You're both funny and sweet, you are happy and smiley.
And we all feel so lucky that you're part of our family.
Some might say "double trouble" but we say "double fun!"
As we celebrate today, our two babies turn ONE!

Happy Birthday to my sweetest little angels.

  10. 8. Birthday Anniversary

    • By Kristina
    • Published by Family Friend Poems August 2008 with permission of the Author.

We sometimes struggle with birthdays, especially as we grow older. I wrote this for my sister when she turned 38 to bring her peace, hope, and joy on her birthday.

Love In Christ, Your Sister, Kristin. July 5, 2002

    in Birthday Poems

Each year our birthday forces us to grow
Into the person whom we have yet to know
With circumstances that hopefully have made us wise
When we learn from our multitude of mistakes and tries.

To take a long look at these years gone past
To really reflect on how time travels fast
To know that every day that each of us lives
Is a great gift from God that He lovingly gives.

So as you celebrate another passing year again
On this day that marks the beginning of the moment when
You entered this world for a purposeful plan
Just remember your worth doesn't come from man.

Your worth comes from our Creator who made you unique
Who gave you knowledge and words to speak
Who doesn't care about a past success or failure
But only cares about your heart that His presence makes pure.

False paths, lost dreams, wrong choices, it's true
Fills your past as well as everyone else's, too.
There may be those lost memories that hinder your day,
But with God in your mind the regrets soon melt away.

Cherish this day and who you're growing to be,
This special person that all of us already see.
Embrace this coming year and live each day anew
By becoming the excellent one God created in you.

  11. 9. Happy Birthday, Sweetheart

    • By Lyndee A Champion-Ivey
    • Published by Family Friend Poems August 2008 with permission of the Author.

My husband and I are apart because he's in Iraq with the military. Like many couples we find that supporting each other emotionally, spiritually, and daily through life is sometimes challenging when we live under the same roof; and always challenging when we're thousands of miles apart. We both need different types of support now. With prayers and my wish for him in this poem I send him strength and love.

    in Birthday Poems

It's that one special day created with you,
When wishes rain in for the year coming new.

You'll gather this year which travelled too fast,
Weed out the regrets of time reaped by the past.

Harvest the days God planted with blessings,
Your health, your family, and valuable life-lessons.

Although we're apart on your day of the year,
With faith and God's love our hearts bloom without fear.

    This wish I have picked for my heart's only love;
A garden of happiness and tending from above.

  12. 10. Happy Birthday, Super Star Sister

    • By Beryl L Edmonds
    • Published by Family Friend Poems January 2019 with permission of the Author.

This birthday greeting poem is for the youngest of our family of five sisters. In spite of having her ups and downs (as we all do), she has been a joy from day one, always happy and never has a bad word for anyone. The poem is written in lines of ten syllables, with four rhyming quatrain stanzas, and ending with a rhyming couplet.

    in Birthday Poems

From the day you were born I've watched you grow
Into the nicest person one could know.
Love changes everything, words oh so true.
My world changed the moment I first held you.

A baby sister who captured my heart,
Nothing and no one could tear us apart.
That goes for all those who love you to bits,
    Especially your children and grandkids.

So bouncy and lively, zesty and bright,
That's the way you go on sailing through life.
You light up a room, soon as you appear.
A gift to the world, so precious and dear.

May this special day and all days after
Be filled with abundant love and laughter.
Every moment a moment to treasure
For a sister who brings so much pleasure.

Never change from the woman that you are.
To us sisters, you are a "Super Star."

My dad has been there for me through everything. I went through some tough times in my life, and my dad never gave up or lost hope. He is a great man and I love him dearly.

    in Birthday Poems

    When I was born
    I didn't know much
I was introduced to this world
By your kind words and soft touch

    Years passed so quickly
    And we were already alike
You were my guide and instructor
When learning to ride a bike

    Off to kindergarten
And a tear in your eye
    You've always been sensitive
    When it comes to goodbyes

    It's because of the love
That you hold in your heart
You want me to experience life
But don't like to be apart

    So off I went
    Adventuring alone
    Learning new things
    Experiencing life on my own

    Hasn't always been easy
    That I am aware
    But one thing's for sure
    You are always there

    You've helped me see
    The woman I can become
You've always had faith in me
    Even when I had none

    It's that unconditional love
    That helped me get through
I wish all little girls' daddies
Could be as great as you

    If all girls had guidance
And a dad's shoulder to cry
    They'd grow up with confidence
    And a willingness to try

So I guess what I'm saying
    Is thank you, Dad
I'm not sure words can express
    The impact you've had

    You are my hero
    And an inspiration to all
    Happy Birthday, Dad
Or Papa Dukes as I call

  14. 12. Birthday Wish

    • By Ciana R. Lewis
    • Published by Family Friend Poems January 2019 with permission of the Author.

This poem is written for my little sister and goddaughter, Raphaela. It was her birthday this month. She means the world to me. My poem has a rhyming scheme and uses metaphors and similes.

    in Birthday Poems

A cake with a lit candle,
    Presents with ribbons and bows,
A bike with pink, glittery handles,
A little girl who grows and grows.

What will you wish for, my love,
On this, your very special day?
Send your wish to God above.
It will come true if you pray.

As you blow out the candle, my dear,
I'll make a wish for you too.
I'll whisper it so you won't hear,
That way I know it will come true.

My wish for you is like sunshine,
Warm, cheery, and full of delight,
My wish is the starlight, soothing and fine,
Which lights up the dark, dreary night.

    May God follow you always,
May the path always be clear,
And may you have a happy birthday
This day and all through the years.

  15. 13. On Your 16th Birthday

    • By Sandra Jeffers
    • Published by Family Friend Poems August 2011 with permission of the Author.

As my son reaches the milestone of 16 years I needed a way to tell him what he means to me. Sometimes the communication is hard in the teen years. I wanted to give him something from the heart.

    in Birthday Poems

    Sixteen years ago today
They placed you in my arms
    I became a mother
    Bewitched by all your charms

You learned to walk, to read
    Each day brought something new
    No more my little boy
You hurt, I cried, you grew

    Sometimes you didn't need me
Didn't want to hold my hand
    Your independence made you proud
    But me a little sad

I blinked my eyes, I turned around
    You're almost grown, I see
Why did it go so fast?
    A few more moments please

In your struggle to be free
    Sometimes we don't get along
But I'm always on your side
    I'll always be your mom

You can't stop time, can't hold it back
    Can't stop the ocean's tide
The good person that you are
    Fills my heart with pride

In my eyes there is no one like you
Can't wait to see what you'll become
My pride and joy, I love you
    Happy birthday to my son

To be blessed with a child is a great event for any mother. We are all reminded of this blessed occasion every year with a birthday celebration.

    in Birthday Poems

I'd like to thank the Lord above,
for this little life He's given to me.
    Without His gift of love,
    your birth would never be.

I'd like to thank the Lord above
for what His gift has meant.
    Just watching you grow up
    has made my heart content.

I'd like to thank the Lord above
for instilling in you a kind heart.
You have grown into a loving man.
    You're witty, thoughtful, and smart.

And on your blessed birthday, son,
a prayer I send to you.
May the Lord instill in your heart
    Charity, faith, and truth.

I wrote this poem to convey my birthday wishes to a friend's son. She was really touched by the feelings expressed in the poem, and it further strengthened mutual respect in our friendship.

    in Birthday Poems

Looks from your son are full of grace
He will bring smiles on each face
Your love in the future he will repay
I wish him a very happy birthday

Your son will shine like the sun
Life challenges for him will be fun
Words of admiration people will say
I wish him a very happy birthday

    Compassion will be his strength
He will travel the world at length
No one will he ever betray
I wish him a very happy birthday

He will make your family feel proud
His words will be heard by huge crowds
    Noble examples he will lay
I wish him a very happy birthday

May God give him His blessings
    To handle anything pressing
All difficulties will just keep away
I wish him a very happy birthday

I wrote this poem for my wife, Dipti, to wish her a happy birthday in a special way, as feelings cannot be replaced by any material gift.

    in Birthday Poems

    Your birthday is so special
O queen of my heart's castle
What gift should I give you
Telling you that my love is true
Oath of care I do take
Happy world we both will make
You will not be left alone
Be it on this earth or moon
    We will always walk together
Both in good and bad weather
    Raising our heads with pride
    Not letting mutual trust slide

  20. 18. To My Mother

    • By Caroline Falzon
    • Published by Family Friend Poems August 2008 with permission of the Author.

With dedication to my loving mother on her 60th birthday.

    in Birthday Poems

On this day as you celebrate your birthday,
my best wishes to you, mother, I dedicate,
greetings filled with all the praise only you deserve,
my dear mother, my dear friend.

For as long as I remember, so loving and so kind,
so patient and so tender, you make my pains feel mild.
Your hands are always present to walk me through the way.
You spell the words I long to hear that always make my day.

"Thank you, Mum," for all you give,
"Thank you, Mum," for all your time,
"Thank you, Mum," for all your kindness,
"Thank you, Mum," for all your love that is endless.

You are to me and you will always be,
the loving mother with an open heart,
the caring friend with a lending hand,
you are my one and only latest trend.

From the bottom of my heart I send you my message with love,
only the very best that a mother like only you can claim,
for I have the best in life through you, I thank God,
for I am blessed and privileged because you are my mum!

    Thank you, Mum,
    best wishes, Mum,
    I love you, Mum.

  21. 19. Happy Birthday To The Queen Of Our Hearts

    • By Fran Peck
    • Published by Family Friend Poems January 2019 with permission of the Author.

My mother raised 5 of us kids almost on her own. Our father was an alcoholic and she struggled to raise us. We didn't realize what a difficult time she had until we were older and had children of our own. I wrote this on her 80th birthday to honor her dedication to us.

    in Birthday Poems

Poems are written every day for moms across the earth.
Stories, songs, and ballads, all trying to tell her worth,

How every day she battled, the odds against her stacked,
Never giving up on us and never looking back.

There was no time for wishing or waiting for a dream.
Faces to wash, meals to cook, clothes that needed cleaned.

She never feels that she's been cheated of a life to call her own.
Smiles that come from beneath her feet is where her heart is drawn.

Sometimes we saw a worried look or heard a desperate prayer,
But she never burdened her little ones with even a hint of care.

Our table was full, our beds were warm, clothes upon our back.
We always had just what we needed; we never knew a lack.

The outside world might raise a brow and doubt that we'd survive,
But mom was sure of her love for us, and that love kept us alive.

She could've chosen a different path, the road to please herself.
Instead she took the high road, and her kids became her wealth.

Investing in us every day, she seemed so brave and strong,
But only God knew the tears she cried when she was all alone.

He heard her every prayer and watched as time went by.
He traded her ashes for beauty and lifted her head up high.

It's no wonder that we love her so unlike any other.
Happy Birthday to the queen of our hearts, our dear, precious Mother.

  22. 20. My Daughter Is A Dream Come True

    • By Karan
    • Published by Family Friend Poems December 2011 with permission of the Author.

It's just a father's love for my only daughter who is married now and far away. I'm just kind of missing her on her birthday.

    in Birthday Poems

My daughter is a dream come true.
This kind of thing happens to very few.
I feel blessed to have her love and caring
as she is an angel always sharing.
Her love is such that it changed my life,
and now my little angel has become a wife.
The time may be changing, but she is the same,
so loving, so caring that I have no words left to frame.
I just wish always she gets the best
and may God keep her always blessed.
I love you, my angel, you are the best.
My wish is to have you as my daughter again and again
as you filled my life with happiness and removed all the pain,
so I wish you good luck and happiness throughout.
My blessings are with you always without a doubt.
