He's Gone

He's gone,
Like a shadow when the sun goes down.
The magic fades when he turns around.

And he's gone,
Like words in the sand on a windy day.
He never heard what she had to say.

He's gone,
Like dirt washed by rain from the ground.
She lost everything she thought she'd found.

And he's gone,
Like April turning into May.
How could he just turn away?

He's gone,
Like flowers turning into dust.
She tried so hard, but it wasn't enough.

And he's gone,
Like daytime fading into night.
One moment there; the next, out of sight.

He's gone,
Like old things giving way to new.
He never knew what he put her through.

And he's gone,
Like blue sky turning into black,
And now she knows that he'll never be back.
