The Hole In My Heart: A Poem About Losing A Loved One

My grandpa passed away, and I felt so much sadness yet again. It had been 8 years since the passing of my first son, and these feelings came back again. Wishing we had more time! Every time I think of them, this is what I go through. It's a way to remember them.

Forgive me if I cry
But there is nothing else to do
If only God could have warned me
That my life would be without you

It wouldn't be much easier
But maybe I would have stayed awake
To make sure that I'd spend every minute
Until your soul he takes

Crying doesn't change it
But it's a way to feed my soul
It gives me comfort
And the tears fill back the hole

It isn't that much longer
When it begins to break
I cannot stop it
It's just a big heartache

Forgive me if I cry
But there is nothing else to do
If only God could have warned me
That my life would be without you
