Grandmother Death Poems

Grandmother Death Poems

Rest in Peace Grandma Poems

Grandmothers are famous for their hearty meals and fresh baked cookies, their abundant hugs and kisses, and their insistent desire to spoil their grandchildren. Times spent at grandma's house are often marked by love, laughter, and contentment. In fact, grandmothers are often responsible for bringing the whole family together. Because grandmothers are such a source of joy for their grandchildren, they are always sorely missed when they pass away. To lose a grandmother is to lose a most valuable family member. Many grandchildren find a peace and solace after the loss of their grandmother by expressing their feelings through poetry.

  1. 1. Grandma

Throughout my life, my grandma played the role of mom, dad, aunt, uncle, grandpa, and grandma. Most importantly, she played the role of friend. She has been gone for a few years now, but I still live to make her proud.

From my beginning until your end,
You were by my side, my first best friend.
I never expressed it when you were here
Though my love and admiration were sincere.

  5. 3. Grandma's Departure

This poem is about the impact of a godly grandparent and the fruit they leave behind.

Grandma's room is empty; she moved away.
She departed this life and is gone to stay.
There was no struggle, but with great ease
she closed her eyes and took her leave.

  6. 4. Another Day

Hi, I'm Kirsty. I'm 32 and live in Scotland. I wrote this poem after my gran passed away suddenly. This poem expresses how I felt and how guilt can play a big part during grief and how you should appreciate the people you love while you still can.

  7. 5. Grandma

Today was the hardest day of my life. I attended my grandma's funeral. Seeing my mum so upset broke my heart. Although my grandma was 94, no time is ever a good time to say goodbye. Grandma, may you be happy tonight as you rest in peace side by side with Grandpa. Going to miss you so much. Love you with all my heart.

Grandma is one special angel, a
    Really gentle, beautiful soul.
Angel of God, so pure and whole.
Never leave me, stay close by.

  8. 6. Missing You, Nan

My Nan passed away on March 16, 2012. That was the single most horrible day of my life. My sisters, my cousins, a friend, and I all carried her to her final resting place on the 23rd. We were the first time that the undertakers, of over 25 years in the business, had seen all women carry the coffin. That was one of my proudest moments. My Nan was my best friend. If I had a problem about absolutely anything, she was there. Sometimes she didn't give advice; just a cuddle was all I needed.

Written for Edna Harrison. My Rock. My Hero. My Best Friend.
Miss you more than you will ever know!

The years will always roll on by
    and time will always pass,
but every memory I have of you
    will definitely always last.

My grandmother meant the world to me. Her death has been the hardest thing I've ever had to deal with. The life lessons she passed on has helped me become the person I've become

A woman of extreme strength, courage and love,
Who was beautiful, soft and now peaceful and free as a dove.
