  1. 21. Autumn Poem

In this anaphora poem, I tried to convey why Autumn is my favorite season. Also, I experimented with expressing my thoughts in fewer words. It was a challenge!

    Autumn mornings,
    Foggy and wet;
    Dewy grass -
    With diamonds beset.

  2. 22. Indian Summer

Fall is my absolute favorite time of the year! I wrote this poem on a bench in the palace gardens of Versailles (France), on a beautiful day in the Fall. I tried to capture the moment, while experimenting a little bit with the form of the poem.

The woods are ablaze with golden light,
And the sky seems painted by a child
In the deepest blue, an impossible hue.

Lovely poem, Bettina. I have never been to Europe but plan to visit it someday. But I have stayed in the North eastern part of USA for quite a few years, and hands down fall is my favorite...

  3. 23. Autumn

This short poem describes why autumn is my favorite season of the year.

I love the lengthening shades of day
    As autumn brushes summer away.
    When spiders appear from everywhere,
Their sticky webs snagging my face and hair.

  4. 24. This Perfect Fall Day

    • By Stephanie Santelmann
    •  Published by Family Friend Poems October 17, 2022

I want to share my joy with others using sensory so the reader can immediately feel Autumn as they read. I really wanted to capture the exhilaration that I feel. I think it is the most beautiful time of year, and the words easily flowed for me. It's a feel-amazing poem, and I believe it must be shared.

The smell of cold leaves awakens my nose
Wispy fog in the air dampens my clothes

It's amazing that it's here! It's finally here!

  5. 25. Mountain Fall

    • By Brenda K. Ledford
    •  Published by Family Friend Poems October 17, 2022

I am a native of the Blue Ridge Mountains. Each season has its beauty, but fall just radiates with splashing the ridgeline like watercolors. Autumn is a work of wonder in these hills.

    Watercolors splash
    cinnamon, pumpkin spice, and nutmeg
    across the Blue Ridge Mountains.

  6. 26. What A Difference A Day Makes

My poem is about savoring the beauty and blessings in each and every day and the difference twenty-four little hours bring to each day, to each season. Twenty-four little hours can end one season and begin another, staying mindful to the slight, subtle changes as the seasons come, as they are, and as they go. As Autumn approaches and Summer leaves us, what a difference twenty-four little hours may bring.

What a difference a day makes,
    twenty-four little hours.

    Cool chill in the air,

  7. 27. The Magic In The Moment

    • By Danielle Spencer
    •  Published by Family Friend Poems September 2015

I teach, and one day on playground supervision I heard a student yell at the top of her lungs, "It's good luck to catch a leaf!" I watched the kids running and dancing as the leaves were falling. They had so much fun with the leaves. It was a very memorable, beautiful moment.

    The wind began to blow
    And shook the trees
    Heads turned up in unison
    Witnessing a season of change

  8. 28. The Deep Blue Says It's Autumn

I am always struck by the brilliant blue of the sky and everything else about autumn - how sharp everything appears and how the colors just seem to "pop" out as they do in no other season. It is as if the earth dresses up for her year-end celebration before going to sleep for winter's season. Since reading the poem "October's Bright Blue Weather" as a very young child, I have noticed this phenomenon...and it's quite real.

The deep blue says it is autumn.
The sky is never this color
Except for days of cool, clear breeze
And leaves falling one on another.

  9. 29. Constant Beauty

    • By Susan Willmore
    •  Published by Family Friend Poems October 18, 2022

The lake I live on has a huge mountain face called Bald Rock. It changes constantly depending on the weather, the angle of the sun, or the time of year. It's everchanging.

The mountain aglow with the autumn sun
Reflections of red, yellow, and gold a spun

Mist on the lake like kisses goodnight

  10. 30. Drifting Leaves

    • By Renee H. Chrysso
    •  Published by Family Friend Poems October 2016

I love to look at the leaves in autumn slowly drift down from the trees. It's my favorite season.

    Golden butterflies
float down to the soft, moist ground
    and rest till fall ends

  12. 32. The Last Leaf On The Tree

    It's about a leaf I saw hanging onto a tree in autumn/winter.

The last leaf on the tree, that's me.
Yes, look up high, that's me.
All my friends have been blown down.
They're waiting for me on the ground.

  13. 33. Autumn Leaves

    • By Nafisa
    •  Published by Family Friend Poems October 19, 2022

Nature is always soothing. It is a balm to the soul.

    Autumn leaves are falling
    Soft, golden, and brown
The sun lends them a glowing hue
As they slide down to the ground.

  14. 34. Ode To Autumn

Fall is my favorite season, and I wrote about how I feel about its beauty.

    The endless green of summer
Has turned to golds and reds,
While the leaves are all a flutter,
    Making pillows for our heads.

  15. 35. Thanksgiving

    • By Bill Volkov
    •  Published by Family Friend Poems November 2017

Not much to say about me. I am the summation of all the people who have influenced me. Parents immigrated from the Soviet Union during the Stalin era, to Persia (Iran), and after 16 years (having come to know the then Shaw of Iran who would visit for my grandmother's fresh baked bread), then immigrated to the US through the Tolstoy foundation and got to know Tolstoy's daughter. I was born in east Los Angeles, and as life would have it, lived a familiar life and now am working toward retirement.

The wind pushes down the road, a warm breeze
    just warm enough.
Thank you for a word...a whisper.
So many colors surround, leaves falling, carpeting a soft path.

  16. 36. Autumn's Cry

Autumn is a beautiful time of year for many reasons. It's not only the stunning warm, rich colors of the maturing autumn leaves that I admire so much, but what the season symbolizes in both nature and in life. It can feel a little sorrowful, as I witness trees once vibrant and full of life becoming bare and exposed to the harsh elements of winter. The crisp falling leaves feel symbolic of the shedding of tears. They symbolize nature's way of letting go and bidding a sorrowful goodbye.

Wild winds whistle through Autumn's rustling leaves,
Trees of gold like amber flames sway softly with the rising breeze,
The cool crisp air of Autumn in the stillness of darkening skies,
Tender leaves fall gently, reflecting the tears of Autumn's cry.

  17. 37. Autumn

The transition from summer to autumn and the way nature changes through the whole process of autumn inspired me to write this poem.

When Summer's silent song is done
And Autumn air has now begun,
    Rustic red leaves
    Drop from the tall trees.

  18. 38. There Is Nowhere I'd Rather Be

I'm a country guy who appreciates the great outdoors and likes to write about it, hoping others can sense the experience.

There is nowhere I'd rather be
    Than here, underneath this tree.
The moon high above to see,
A campfire just out in front of me.

  19. 39. Autumn Is Here

    • By Valliammai Janakiraman

The fiery red and crunchy leaves
    come as the summer flees.

    The green grass gleams

  20. 40. Autumn Haiku

    • By Lucie
    •  Published by Family Friend Poems September 2016

This is a haiku about one of my favorite seasons (autumn).

    A misty morning -
Pumpkins in the air, while boots
    Crunch on autumn leaves.
