Husband Death Poem

Losing A Love One Unexpectedly

Last Christmas in 2022 I lost my husband of 21 1/2 years. We found out five weeks before he passed that he was sick. He had colon cancer, which he was already stage 4 and had spreaded to his liver. The worst day of my life when Christmas suppose to be for miracles and as I prayed for mine he was slipping away and I couldn't do nothing but watch. So my poem is about me seeing and being able to hear his voice one more time so I can hug him and tell him how much I love and miss him.

I Wish Heaven

I wish heaven had a phone so I could hear your voice again.
I wish heaven had Skype so I could see your bright smile.
I wish heaven had visiting hours so I could be there each and every time.
I wasn't ready for you to go, God had other plans and called you home early.
Too soon... we were caught off guard and didn't have a fighting chance.
But you said, I'll see you on the other side as you slid into the light and I said my final goodbye.
I wish heaven had a phone so I can tell you how sorry I am that our time here would've been spent fighting.
I wish heaven had a phone so I could call you one last time to tell you how much I love you.
