Happy Anniversary Wishes

An anniversary is a time of reflection of the event that was experienced. It is healthy and natural to remember an event on the anniversary of the day it occurred. Moments of joy should be celebrated with joy. The same goes for sad occasions. These should not be ignored. Anniversaries of weddings and engagements are times to renew the love and affection that was felt during those times. They are an opportunity to bring the marriage to a higher level. Anniversaries are a function of the cyclical nature of the universe. The constellations become aligned in the way they were during that special occasion.

  1. 1. Thank You

    • By Hannah L
    •  Published by Family Friend Poems January 2015

This is the poem I wrote for my boyfriend for our anniversary, and it can apply to anyone and everyone who is grateful to someone.

Poem Thanking Boyfriend For His Love

    Thank you
    For loving me true,
For being no one but you,
    For holding my hand
    And helping me stand.

    Thank you
    For never giving up
    And never getting stuck
    In the dark times
    Where only love shines.

    Thank you
    For the kind letters
    That make me feel better,
    For putting up with me,
    And loving what you see.

    Thank you
    Now and forever.
    Remember, I'll never
    Stop loving you.
    What I say is true;
I mean it from my heart,
    Even when it's dark.
    I love you.

  3. 2. Happy 1st Anniversary, My Sweet Love!

I wrote this for my fiancé as our 1-year-together-as-a-couple gift. We get married in 3 days! With all the wedding planning, he and I decided not to go spending money on the "One Year" that we could be putting into the ceremony and reception, but I still wanted to make it special, so deep within my heart - I searched - and seeing him, I found the inspiration and motivation to write this beautiful poem.

    One Year Anniversary Poem

    Happy Anniversary, my sweet love!
For you, I thank the Lord above.
You've given me hope, inspiration, and truth.
Because of you, I feel never-ending youth.
When heavy storms have come our way,
Your love has always made me stay.
Each morning I wake and see your face,
I know in you I've found my place.
Our bond is extraordinary, beautiful, and real.
It's remarkable how wonderful you make me feel.
We belong together, you and I.
    That, the world cannot deny.
Never in my life will I find another man
Who could ever fulfill me the way you can.
The life we've shared this past year
Has proved forever it shall persevere.
I will love you forever in every way.
That will remain constant until my dying day.

  5. 3. First Anniversary

    • By Wendy Mcquaid
    •  Published by Family Friend Poems June 2016

I wrote this poem to my husband on our first anniversary.
Our money was tight 39 years ago and I could not afford a gift. I watched him as he napped on the couch and started to think of the past year and the years to come.
I got a paper and pen and started writing what was going through my head.
When I was done I rolled the paper up and tied a red ribbon around it.
When he woke, I gave it him. He read it and hugged me.
The poem is framed and hangs in our house to this day.

Poem To Husband For First Anniversary

Although it's been but one year
Since we took our marriage vows,
In my heart you are always dear
And for you there's always bows.
    Some times were bad
    And some were good.
    We struggled through
    The best we could.
    We've shared our hopes
    And shared our dreams.
    They'll keep on coming
    Like running streams.
    Together we'll grow old.
    Around our hearts
    A ring of gold,
Our love grows stronger day by day.
Our love, what more can I say?
    I love you dearly,
    I love you true,
    For in my heart
    It's only you.
    Death will part us,
    That I know,
    But our love?
    It will never go,
    For this I'm sure,
    As you can see,
    'Cause you and I
    Have found the key.

  6. 4. Happy Anniversary

A husband uses poetry to express his feelings about his love to his wife on the occasion of their anniversary.

    From Husband To Wife

When years are passing by like days,
and in my hand your hand is placed,
a knowing smile crosses your face.
A simple touch can still make my heart race.

When I can see my soul in your eyes,
and you see your soul in mine, we realize
that a love so deep can harbor no lies,
where our only tears shed were happy tears we've cried.

I love you as much now as I ever did before.
If possible, I may love you even more,
all starting from a feeling we did not ignore,
a feeling of connection we chose to explore.

I don't know what it is that you saw in me.
In you I saw the utmost happiness that could ever be,
even more so on the day you and I became "we."
I can still smile and say with love and truth, "Honey, I love you. Happy Anniversary."

    • By Sarah
    •  Published by Family Friend Poems January 2009

I wrote this to my parents-in-law on their anniversary.

    Thanking Parents-In-Law On Their Anniversary

I received you as parents on the day I wed your son.
So I just want to thank you for all that you have done.
You gave to me a special man with whom I share my life.
You're his loving parents and I'm his lucky wife.
Your faith, hope, and kindness are qualities that we treasure.
But most of all we appreciate the love you give without measure.
As grandparents, you both have that very special touch.
That's why they love you both so very, very much.
You make them laugh, you make them giggle.
You make them dance, and sing, and wriggle!
They have so much fun and shout out loud
That you belong to them and they are very proud!

So we celebrate you both on your anniversary day.
And we all love you more than words can say .....

Anniversary Wishes For Parents From Daughter

When I was young, MOM and DAD,
I remember saying that I would never leave your side,
Now I have grown and see the love you two share.
I now realize that's the way life is.
I have learned so much from you two,
I pleasure every moment I am with you.
    God gave me a blessing,
For having two loving parents as great and loving as you.
You two are great and I am so proud of your 19th year together!
I love you both so much,
    And I hope for so many years for you two together;
For the parents I so dearly love.

  9. 7. Enjoy Marriage Anniversary

    • By Shishir Kumar Goel
    •  Published by Family Friend Poems October 2015

On October 11, 2015, we celebrated our 17th marriage anniversary. My wife always demands a gift from me on this occasion. This year I gifted her this poem, and she was very happy to read my feelings.

Anniversary Poem About A Deepening Relationship

We got married today seventeen years before
My love for you at that time was a little immature
As we are moving forward in this busy life
I am very proud to say that you are my wife
We don't have anything today from each other to hide
Our false egos therefore now seldom collide
Both of us have left behind our fake impressions
Because life has taught us its reality lessons
We are accepting things as they are unfolding naturally
Peace has been prevailing slowly in our small family
Let us now break all the remaining useless barriers
And just keep our focus on health and children's careers
All pairs in this world have something very unique
So never think yourself to be comparatively weak
God gives all for which He finds them suitable
No one in this life is perfect and all capable
Our future will be nice; please do not worry
Let us just dance and enjoy our marriage anniversary

  10. 8. Reaching Ten

    • By Nigel L. Attwood
    •  Published by Family Friend Poems October 2016

A poem for my wife to celebrate 10 great years, especially as both of us had come from difficult relationships previously.

Poem For Wife Celebrating 10th Anniversary

    Ten years, a husband
    To you, my Darling Wife.
    A gentle hand, a smile,
    Changed the way of life.

    Into this we came,
    So cautious, so burned.
    Fate in the stars, maybe,
    As love unfurled.

    From past ashes,
    An everlasting flower
    Began full bloom,
    Continues to tower.

    How do we define it,
    A bond so strong?
    An infinite meaning -
    That word, four letters long.

    Here to say thanks
    For life rerun -
    The family, the children
    We share as one.

    Ten years? Not enough -
    Decades more to follow
    To enjoy the adventure,
    So let the river flow...

    One thing in life
    Remains constant, true.
    Unquestionably, undeniably...
    I love you.

  11. 9. I Know My Life

I have heard it said by many people including those close to me that my wife and I married young and lost all of the fun things of our youth. We married when we were 16 for my wife and 17 for me, which now has been over 30 years ago. Well to my wife Pammy, I hope you know I really have never looked back in regret because having you is so much more than I ever imagined it would be. With my wife, we have created a lifetime of wonderful adventures and memories, those who say we were too young have no idea what a true sharing young love could be. Commitment, friendship, love, devotion, sharing, caring, laughing and at times crying. I would not change a thing.

My Girlfriend Is Now My Wife

My girlfriend is now my wife
It happened 30 years ago and changed my life

I have heard people complain as they age of what they may have missed
Well if they complain then that is for them, because for 30 years I have had your kiss

I know not of things I could have had in a life that is past
I do know that I am blessed with your love, a love that lasts

If I look back in time and say, "I missed something and I desire"
I think of your love and to say I would trade a thing would make me a liar

I could look back in time and say, "I could have had"
I had you, to want anything else would be just mad

I know as a young husband I gave up what some may feel were the best years of their lives
Well I gave up nothing, I feel sorrow for them, I had more because you are my wife

Yes, I know how to look back in time, I know my life
I would not change a thing because you are my wife

Regret, why should I do such a thing
For I am proud to wear my wedding ring

They had fast cars and fast times
I had you, a wife so very fine

What did they have that I did not
Well whatever it was I am sure it was not a lot

You are my past, my present, and my future
We have lived our past, you are my present, and I pray to be blessed with you in my future

I had more joy, more laughter, more love, and more pleasure
Because what I have with you is more than can be measured

  12. 10. The Diamond Couple

    • By Rebecca Robinson
    •  Published by Family Friend Poems December 2016

My grandparents have always been a huge part of my life. For their diamond wedding anniversary I wanted to give them something that would show them how much they mean to me. I wanted to give them something from the heart, something truly sentimental that they can treasure forever. So I wrote them this poem. I hope it expresses my love toward my grandparents, and I hope it is able to make other people feel the happiness, unity, and warmth that comes from the love within families.

Poem For Grandparents' 60th Wedding Anniversary

    My granny and grandpa
Are two very special people to me.
This poem is my way of saying
Thank you for always making me happy.

    My granny and grandpa
    Have spent 60 years together.
A whole life they have shared
Bringing each other and our family great pleasure.

    My granny and grandpa
Always have the family at heart,
Spreading their love to us all,
Making sure we never feel apart.

    My granny and grandpa
Have shown me love is about giving.
It's sharing your heart with someone,
Making the most of the laughter and living.

    My granny and grandpa
Have taught us life has its ups and downs,
But when you love and care for someone,
It's about sharing the smiles and the frowns.

    My granny and grandpa
Both have hearts which are honest.
    Always faithful to each other,
Remembering the vows that they promised.

    For this reason,

    My granny and grandpa
Are the most admirable people I know.
    Their generosity, their kindness,
And their love will forever show.

    My granny and grandpa
Are two very special people to me.
A diamond couple in every way.
To all our hearts they hold the key.

Frances and I celebrated our 65 anniversary on October 5, 2008, with about 200 of our friends and relatives. The following Monday, Frances was diagnosed with colon cancer which had spread to her liver. On December 18, 2008, I rushed her back to the hospital. They did everything possible to save her, but she died at 8:15 a.m. on December 19, 2008. I am so thankful for the loving poem she wrote to me.

    Poem About Cherishing Husband

Do you know how important you are to my life?
How you have brought me great joy as a mother and wife?

Do you know your expressions of kindness and praise
Have encouraged me so and brought warmth to my days?

I am so proud and grateful for all that you have done
As you have helped make our marriage a happy one.

And I want you to know that for all of our life
You'll be needed and cherished and loved by your wife.

    • By Shishir
    •  Published by Family Friend Poems July 2015

I wrote this poem as a gift to my wife on our 15th marriage anniversary on 11th October 2013 and she was really touched.

    Marriage Anniversary Poem To Wife

We've been married for the last fifteen years
Your role as wife deserves three cheers
Our family has gotten your full care
You do everything for the kids' welfare
Love to the new phase let us now carry
Wishing you a happy marriage anniversary

Along with you I feel in a safe zone
You are our family's strong back bone
I pray to God to give you good health
Which I consider my greatest wealth
My future love for you will never vary
Wishing you a happy marriage anniversary

Grief and happiness come and go
Our mutual strength will be never low
Message of peace we both will spread
And will try our best to make others glad
    Everyone will then make merry
Wishing you a happy marriage anniversary

Everyone desires a very good life
That is possible only through a good wife
Who always stands by your side
And feels you to be her greatest pride
Making you feel like a prince Harry
Wishing you a happy marriage anniversary

Today I make to you this special plea
You only swim in my heart's deep sea
Entry of others in it I will strictly refuse
You only can make its gainful use
Believe for me only you are primary
Wishing you a happy marriage anniversary

  15. 13. To My Wife

    • By Jerry Boettcher
    •  Published by Family Friend Poems December 2016

I have a sweet wife and 4 kids. My wife does a good job in helping to tame the parts of me that would be a little anti-social and over-working. I wrote this short poem on our 25th anniversary just to tell her again that I appreciate her and would marry her again if I had the chance. I took this poem and wrote it in a blank card and gave it to her on our anniversary, in lieu of a Hallmark card.

Short 25th Anniversary Poem To My Wife

On this day we said our vows.
Now is a time to say just how
    Much I appreciate you.

    God-crafted for me alone,
You've done so well to make our home
A place of nurture and love.

    Smoothing out my obtuse corners,
You help to make our family warmer
To the people who surround us.

I love you as much as on day one,
Even though many years have gone
By in the blink of a moment.

I am so happy I have years more
To be with you and to adore...

    Celebrating Companionship

You and I have made a life together
You and I complement each other

You and I are best of friends
You and I, our friendship will never end

You and I share a sacred bond
You and I, our love is forever and beyond

You and I know how to adjust
You and I have immense mutual trust

You and I are quick to forgive
You and I know this is the way to live

Yet you and I show each other respect

You and I, so faithful and true
You adore me and I adore you too

We thank the Almighty, we thank our fate

For bringing us together, for this wonderful life,
For all the beautiful memories as husband and wife.

  18. 16. Some Flowers For You

    • By Chris
    •  Published by Family Friend Poems August 2011

My young son, with 15 red roses, and my daughter, carrying this poem (rolled up on parchment paper), walked into my wife's work on our 15 year anniversary and presented it to her. She cried...

    Happy 15th Anniversary

    A rose for every year,
    many smiles for every tear
Way more of the first than ever of the latter
What's deep in our hearts is all that really matters

We've learned a lot, yet still a lot to learn
For that "smile in your eyes" my heart still yearns
Keep giving me a chance to show you my love
We've always found a way to rise above

We know what we have and we've made it this far
We often say to each other just how lucky we are
To have what we have when we look in their eyes
We both know we've been given the ultimate prize

A family who cares and can say how they feel
There is no doubt this family is real
It's a life full of hustle that is crazy sometimes
But I can honestly say these are the "BEST of times"

I'd do it again in a minute, no doubt
You have in your heart what I can't live without
These last 15 years have been so special to me
I think I see now what everyone else can see

  19. 17. I Was Simply Amazed

This is written for my wife of 30 years, a reflection from me about our wedding day. I have 33 years of loving this lady, wonderful thoughts and memories stored in my heart. Pammy is my wife and always my motivation. I thank her for all she is and all she has given me.

    Poem For 30th Wedding Anniversary

A day I remember oh so well, that day, June 17th, it was great.
That day, a special day, the day that my life was changed in 1978.

I waited on this special day, a wait that seemed so very, very wrong.
The day went on and on, I remember thinking that day was extra, extra long

Then I marched down an aisle, I stood there still lost in my life.
Then out the door you came, you were so beautiful and soon to be my wife.

I, as everyone there was taken by the beautiful woman coming down the stairs,
I heard or saw nothing after you appeared, all that I could do was stare.

I watched as you came towards me, your beauty I had seen before.
You were amazing, so pure, so beautiful, that day you were so much more.

I had never seen anything so beautiful in all my living days.
To see you, more beautiful than ever before, I was simply amazed.

The preacher was leading us in saying our vows.
The words came from me to you, but looking back I have to wonder how.

I was so lost in your beauty, lips of red, perfume so sweet blowing in a summer breeze.
It was all I could do to look at you and not fall to my knees.

I do believe in God and I pray, you know that is true.
That day my prayers were answered, that day I married you

I have never since that day stood lost in my life
Because God gave guidance to me, you, my beautiful wife.

Husband pledges everlasting commitment to his wife while celebrating an anniversary.

Romantic Anniversary Poem To Wife From Loving Husband

Like a flash of light your life appeared
With a touch so soft, a voice so sincere
I thought your love would never come my way
But it was worth the wait for that special day.
Now I know nothing will ever tear us apart
My soul is locked and you have the key to my heart
I swear I'll never think of another girl
No one else matters, you have total control.
I'm a genie in a bottle, so rub me twice
You'll be my master for all of my life
Your every wish will be my command
We will walk through heaven together, so grab my hand.
I'll take you on a trip better than any dream
The only guy you'll ever want will be me.
Love is a war, and I truly surrender
I belong to you, there's no hidden agenda
I just want to keep you happy till time flies away
I hope you'll let me do this, please always stay.
We will climb mountains and swim across any sea
Just you and me girl, HAPPY ANNIVERSARY
