Mom Poems From Daughters

Mother and daughter relationships are complex because the daughter looks to her mother as a role model of what a woman is. As she grows up and sees other women who live their lives differently, she chooses between imitating her mother or other significant influences in her life. As an adolescent she may come to look down on her mother and think that other woman are much better. Of course she is not a fully grown woman so she does not understand the challenges and choices that her mother faces. It is only when she herself becomes a woman that she can fully appreciate her mother.

    • By Author Unknown
    •  Published by Family Friend Poems February 2006

A daughter who is aware of the great debt she owes to her mother puts her gratitude into words.

Multiple people have claimed to be the author of this poem. The poem was certainly written before 2006. At this point it is impossible for us to determine who the true author is.

Poem Thanking Mom For Everything She's Done

Sometimes I know the words to say to give thanks for all you've done,
but then they fly up and away as quickly as they come.

How could I possibly thank you enough, the one who makes me whole,
the one to whom I owe my life, the forming of my soul?

The one who tucked me in at night, the one who stopped my crying,
the one who was the expert at picking up when I was lying.

The one who saw me off to school and spent sad days alone,
yet magically produced a smile as soon as I came home.

The one who makes such sacrifices to always put me first,
who lets me test my broken wings, in spite of how it hurts.

Who paints the world a rainbow when it's filled with broken dreams,
who explains it all so clearly when nothing is what it seems.

Are there really any words for this? I find this question tough.
Anything I want to say just doesn't seem enough.

What way is there to thank you for your heart, your sweat, your tears,
for ten thousand things you've done for oh so many years.

For changing with me as I changed, accepting all my flaws,
not loving 'cause you had to, but loving just because.

For never giving up on me when your wits had reached its end,
for always being proud of me, for being my best friend.

And so I come to realize, the only way to say,
the only thank you that's enough is clear in just one way.

Look at me before you see what I've become.
Do you see yourself in me, the job that you have done?

All your hopes and all your dreams, the strength that no one sees,
a transfer over many years, your best was to pass me.

Thank you for the gifts you give, for everything you do,
but thank you, Mommy, most of all for making dreams come true.

  3. 2. Mother

I love to write and wanted to write something special for my mom and for all the other mothers in the world. I am a mother of three, and as I look at my kids, it takes me back to when I was a young girl with my mom. I cherish her and am very blessed I had a mother like her.

    The Support Of A Mother

A mother loves right from the start,
No matter if her children are near or far apart.
    A mother gives never-ending love.
She gives us comfort and peace like a beautiful dove.
For us she will always do her best,
Even when we put her patience to the test.
    She wipes our tears,
    Chases away our fears,
Encourages us to follow a dream,
No matter how far-fetched it may seem.
Her gifts can never compare to any other.
I am so honored to call her my mother.
    Looking back on another year,
I was so lucky to have a mother so dear.
So Mom, on your special day, relax and enjoy
And always know that I couldn't have asked for any other
More incredible person to call my mother.
    I love you, Mom!
    Happy Mother's Day

A child expresses her love to her mother and regrets that she doesn't share it enough.

    I Love You Mommy Poem

    Mommy, I love you
    More than you see.
    You have always been there
When I needed you to be.

    I know I don't show
    How great my love is,
But I need you to know
All the love of you I have to give.

    I wish there was more
    For you I could do,
    But all I can say
Is how much I love you.

It is deeper than the oceans,
    Higher than the sun.
    I could shout it forever
    And still not be done.

    Your smile is a keepsake.
I keep close to my heart
That I open up and treasure
    When we are apart.

My mom is my role model, and this poem was my way of telling her just how much she means to me.

Poem About All My Mother Has Done

You brushed my hair and tucked me in,
Made me laugh for hours on end.
You kissed my boo-boos when I fooled around.
Mommy, you never let me down.

You held my hand as I got my shots
Then took me for ice cream that hit the spot.
You bought me Polly Pockets and Barbies, too.
Mommy, there's no one quite like you.

You held my hand as I walked through the door,
Then you met my teacher as I stared at the floor.
You told me it'd be fun and I'd make friends too,
And for that reason, Mommy, I love you.

You listened to me talk about the drama and boys
Then taught me how to handle it with class and poise.
You spoke with wisdom and of things you know.
You love to hear me say, "Mommy, you told me so."

You love the Lord with all you heart,
And you're kind and gentle and pretty and smart.
If I could be anyone, I'd pick you,
'Cause, Mommy, the world would be better with two of you.

You've taught me so much, with more in store,
And with each day that passes, I love you more.

    •  Published by Family Friend Poems February 2006

Poem for a strong and valiant woman, a mother

    Always There For Me

She's always been there for me.
Just talking to her can make me happy.
She tells me of the hard times she's been through
In hopes that I won't go through them too.
She's an independent woman of stature and grace.
She has beautiful eyes and a lovely face,
An audacious strength from deep inside.
In her I know I can confide.
She's my guardian angel who'll always be
A very special part of me.
She takes pride in caring for her kin.
She gives us hope and things to believe in.
If I didn't have her there for me,
I wouldn't be half the woman I turned out to be.

  8. 6. Precious Gift

A mother's words of love to her daughter...

When times seem too hard to bear and I feel like giving up,
I envision your beautiful face, the twinkle of your eyes and things of such.
The bond we created from my womb to the day you were born
Is a mother and daughter bond that can never be torn.
With the strength and guidance of God and the blessings he pours down from above,
I want to be the best mom I can be to you and embrace you with all my love.
You are as precious as a flower and as gorgeous as a rose.
You have been specially made to the very tip of your nose.
You are as sweet as honey; such an innocent young child.
You are brighter than any star in the sky every time you smile.
I want you to be proud of who you are and strive to be the best.
Put forth efforts to achieve your goals and let God do the rest.
I will always be your mother first, but I'm also your friend.
You are the most precious gift that I've ever been given.

    With All My Love,

    Precious Gift

To my mother who raised me and was there when I needed her.
    I love you!

    Tribute To Mother Poem

The one who brought me down to earth
    And held me every day.
The one who gracefully gave me birth
And said, I love you in every way.

The one who taught me everything,
Like how to crawl and walk.
The one who taught me how to sing
    After learning how to talk.

The one who told me, stay in school
    And always play nice.
The one who told me, keep it cool,
    And gave me good advice.

The one who taught me how to read
And how to do my math.
The one who taught me how to bead
And told me to take a bath.

The one who lectured, school before a man
    And to love one another.
    Believe me that this woman
Can be no one but my Mother!

  10. 8. Because You're My Mom

    • By Linda Arlene Fassett
    •  Published by Family Friend Poems November 2009

Dedicated to my daughter, Deanna Nicole, in the hopes that she will remember when we were best friends. I cry every time I read this because I pray she one day feels this way toward me again. I miss you so very much my daughter, my best friend.
    Love, Mom

    Poem To Mom From Daughter

Because you are my mom, you loved me before I was ever seen.
You thanked God for this miracle, this little human being.
So exciting, yet fragile it all must have seemed to you then.
Hearing my little heart beat inside you, now life begins.

Because you are my mom, no pain was too great for you to bear.
Now you're a mother and I your child with joys and pains to share.
And so into this world my life began, each breath now on my own.
One day we will look back at just how much I've grown.

Because you are my mom, you worried for me within your every bone.
You finally let go of my little hand to take my first steps on my own.
Because you are my mom, you showed me through the years
To care about others and their feelings and the things they hold dear.

Because you are my mom, you taught me right from wrong,
Understanding that my faith in God will forever keep me strong,
Showing me that being my own person is the only tool I'll need
When morals and values are your foundation to succeed.

Because you are my mom, you loved me enough to also be my friend.
You would be right there in ways that no one could see or ever comprehend.
When there was no way I thought you could ever understand,
There you would be, non-judging and willing to lend a hand.

Because you are my mom, God's gift to me was you
As your daughter, I will always love you
    And promise to be true.
I thank you for so many things, and will try to never make you sad or blue.

Because you are my mom, and one day I will be a mother too,
I pray I never forget all that you've been through.
I am your daughter, and in your image I am proud to be.
By the grace of God you were created, and then I came to be.

  11. 9. Love At Last

    • By Peggy Liimatta
    •  Published by Family Friend Poems April 2008

I am a mother hurting and trying to regain my daughter's love. I wrote this poem from my heart and find poetry a very satisfying way to get my feelings out. This is the first poem I have ever really worked hard on and actually finished. Thanks for reading it.

Poem From Mom Who Wants Her Daughter's Love

    I remember the good times
    that we once had...
    but still my life
    is sad

    I try to look forward,
    but my mind goes back...
because a piece of the glass
    on our portrait is cracked.

I try so hard to protect the glass.
    I won't let it shatter...
    Because you and your love
    are all that matters.

    My family is all
    that means anything to me.
    Still...everything always
    gets blamed on me.

    This happens to moms
    all over the world.
    We're supposed to be perfect;
    we learn this as girls.

    I have never been great
    or the "best of moms"...
    And at times I've failed
by the things I've done wrong.

For those things, I am sorry.
I didn't want you to cry...
    but please remember
    my eyes are not dry.

    I hope you can find
    our love that seems lost.
For the mistakes I have made
came at a very high cost.

    A piece of my life,
    is missing and gone.
    And everything feels
    Oh so wrong.

    But there is one thing
    that I can do.
I will try to be strong
    just for you.

    One thing I feel
    down deep in my heart.
    It's my love for you.
    I guess that's a start.

    You have a new son
    now growing inside.
And I hope that you feel
each of his kicks with pride.

    You will feel love
    like never before.
    It is your family
    you will completely adore.

    It's a new beginning.
    you will forget the past.
It completes you as a woman.
It will be "love at last."

    Dedicated to Mary DeVincentz.

    Tribute To A Mother's Love

You are the one who brought me along,
You are the one who sang me that song.
You are the one who taught me all there was to learn.
You are the one who helped me not to burn.
You are the one who taught me to love,
You are the one who's sent from above.
You are the one who loves me so dear,
You are the one who was there for every tear.
You are the one who never left my side,
You are the one who kept me alive.
You are the one who cared for me each day,
You are the one who showed me God and how to pray.
You prayed that every day would be a joyous day,
And asked God to come into your heart and stay
I can't believe how much and how fast I have grown,
But I know I can always rely on you when I feel alone.

  13. 11. Thank You Mother

    • By Devon
    •  Published by Family Friend Poems June 2008

I dedicate this poem to my beautiful mother who has helped me through all my struggles and is the most important person in my life.

To be a mother is not an easy task,
yet you do it proudly every day, no matter what is asked.
You have turned your baby into a beautiful young lady.
You were there for me since the very beginning and saved me countless tears.
The pushy and wise advice you gave will carry me through the years.
With my every mistake or wrongful deed,
you were always there to understand.
You put no limits on my dreams or anything else I wish to do.
You never forget to say you care or that you love me too.
The smile and tears upon your face when I achieve provides me with more value in my heart than you'd ever believe.
There is no other person that will shape my heart the way you've done,
your job finished perfectly for your precious daughters and son.
We have had a rocky road through triumph and catastrophe, hard time and despair,
but not a single moment of time of not having a wonderful mother there.
You have always put in your last with love, and my whole life is not enough time for me to repay you.
We always put our disagreements to the side and manage to make it through.
I know that my teen years have driven you crazy, but you have guided me with assurance along the way.
You have given me comfort and certainty with every breath I take within the day.
Your little girl is growing up, but your baby girl will always remain deep inside me.
There are not enough words that can thank you for how you've helped me emotionally and physically.
I have my whole future ahead of me and you are the women that has led me and guided me toward the proper path.
How can one simple day prove that much thanks and love to someone who has pushed this far and still is working her way?
No other person deserves a more wonderful Mother's Day.

  14. 12. The Greatest Love

    • By Krishna B. Billones
    •  Published by Family Friend Poems March 2017

This poem is for my mom, because I want to tell the world how blissful I am to have a wonderful gift from God. Even though I am not always a good daughter, still she loves and accepts me wholeheartedly. Her love for me is endless.

    A Mother's Endless Love

    From the moment
    I came into this world,
    you gave to me
    your heart and soul.

You give up all the time
    you have for yourself
    just to show to me
how much I mean to you.

    Every day and every night
you give to me all your love.
    You run to me
    when I call your name.

    You embrace me
    to heal my pain.
    The warmth of your touch
will always be in my heart.

Even if the time will come
that God will take you away from me,
    I will never forget
    your undying love for me.

    Your love molds me
to become a person with morality.
    Sorry for all the times
that I just made you cry.

    Sorry if I can't return
    all your love for me.
    To all of my imperfections,
your love for me will never change.

Your love for me will always be true,
for your love for me is endless.
I love you, Mom, now and forever.
I'll love you, Mom, until the end of forever.

I recently got in a fight with my mom, and I want to let her know that I appreciate everything she does for me. Feedback would be nice :)

    You are my Hero.
The most influential person in my life.
You are loved by us all.
A mother, sister, daughter, and a wife.

    You are always the strongest.
    And like the threads of a quilt;
    You hold us together.
You are a flower whose petals will never wilt.

As much as you deny it,
You are beautiful inside and out.
    Your kindness and unselfishness,
Is what makes you shine throughout.

I don't think you can comprehend
How much I appreciate you everyday.
And how much you mean to me.
To me you are perfect in every way.

    So thank you mom.
    For always being here.
Especially in my times of need.

  16. 14. My Father Gave Her To Me

    • By Donetta Davis
    •  Published by Family Friend Poems February 2006

A girl thanks God for her stepmother who is exactly the person she needed in her life.

Poem From Step Daughter To Step Mother

My father gave her to me, as a gift from God above,
    Who would know a Step-Mother,
is someone you can really love.
    I shall call her mother,
    the name that suits her best;
Although my veins are not of her blood, She surpassed all the rest.
    She loves and understands me,
and of course is my Best Friend,
She is soft, and kind, and loving, until our journey, here, shall come to an end.
The Lord gave her to me,
    She's my comfort zone,
The Lord knows every need of his children,
and that I needed to be in taught in a new tone.
Quite a few heartaches for both my new mom and me,
We were put together for a reason, even if we cannot see.
We had both lost someone dear to us, and with God's sweet guiding kiss,
    He put together a family,
so we could love the ones,
    that together, we missed.
Mother, I am sorry that you suffered all the strife in your life,
But God had a plan for me and you,
and made you my father's wife.
I think about a little girl who's mother's love she would have missed,
And I feel the tears she felt,
when it was her brow you kissed.
I cannot say enough for all the times you cared,
Thank you for the tender moments that together we can now share.
My Mother she will be, forever and ever again,
She's my shining Angel and most of all, forever, my friend.

  17. 15. Dear Mom

    • By Nia Ivanov
    •  Published by Family Friend Poems May 2019

My mother and I have been through so much together. We have been through crazy adventures, long plane rides, fighting, crying, laughing, and so much more. We have been there for each other for as long as I can imagine. In fact, I don't remember a time when my mom wasn't by my side to help me. She is my rock, my person, my guide, and my best friend. I wanted to write this poem about our relationship to show how grateful I am for her and how much I love her. I dedicate this poem to her.

    A Long Lasting Mother-Daughter Relationship

From the first shine of light
To the first breath of my life,
You have been there from day to night.
Dear Mom, you'll always be my partner in crime.

    From my first smile
    To my first step,
You have stayed by my side.
Dear Mom, thank you for being my guide.

    From broken friendships
    To late night laughs,
You have been through all my despairs.
Dear Mom, you've handled this job with class.

From all the good grades in school
To all the low scores at competitions,
You still showered me with comfort.
Dear Mom, thank you for being my savior.

From driving me to the hospital
    To overcoming injuries,
    You have cured my weaknesses.
Dear Mom, you give me strength.

From starting at the beginning all over again
    To traveling around the country,
    You always survive.
Dear Mom, thank you for your suggestions.

    From tucking me in
    To kissing my forehead goodnight,
    You have been my heroine.
Dear Mom, you have provided me with pure light.

From giving each other the silent treatment
To talking and hugging it out,
You never fail to give the best advice.
Dear Mom, our relationship will never disrupt.

    You are my person.
You are the greatest gift in my life.
Thank you for everything that you do.
Dear Mom, I love you always and forever.

I wrote this poem for my first born. She was the first "reason" I had to keep on going. It's my way of telling her that I know the troubles that are ahead, but I will be there to guide her every step.

You Are My Daughter For Eternity

When I held you for the first time,
    My life began to shine.
I knew then this life wasn't just mine.

I would do what it takes
To help you correct your mistakes,
To get by the challenges you may face.

For our freedom many have fought.
Some days will be good, others will not.
Always thank God for the life you've got.

The world isn't perfect, as you will see.
Having you here made it better for me.
When you're in need, by your side I'll be.

For you are my daughter for eternity.

  19. 17. This Angel To Whom I Was Given

My mom is an amazing person. She has been through hell and back, but you wouldn't know it. She taught me what it means to love unconditionally, to give and not expect anything in return, to put others first and most importantly, she taught me about God. She has such a big heart that I'm surprised it fits inside of her. Of course she has flaws, as we all do, but when I look at her all I can see is perfection and I thank God every day that he gave me this beautiful angel to call Mom.

Poem About The Love A Daughter Has For Her Mom

One day I was given to an Angel in disguise
Who's beautiful, yet so fragile wings were tattered beyond recognize

But this Angel to whom I was given, what a heart of gold had she
Who had yet to realize how important she would be

This Angel to whom I was given is so selfless, so giving as can be
Who shares her gift of mercy so that others may be free

This Angel to whom I was given is so faithful, so true
Who would lay down her own life if it meant salvation of one or a few

This Angel to whom I was given is so thoughtful, so kind
Whose never-ending love and prayers are the reason I'll be fine

This Angel to whom I was given is a blessing, my hero all the time
I am so proud to call her Mom, this beautiful Angel of mine

A girl lets her mother know how special she is to her. She knows that she can always rely on her for anything big or small.

Thank You Poem From Daughter To Mom

    you've always given me
the best that love could give
    and we've always lived together
the best that we could live
you've always been there for me
    whenever I was in need
you planted me in your heart
the way a planter plants a seed
you showed me how to be the lady
    I am today
    you are my role model
    in each and every way
you're the one I've looked up to
    since I was really small
    I know you'll catch me
    if ever I should fall
'cause you're my mom and I love you so
    we will be together
for the rest of our lives
and I will keep on searching
    'til the right man arrives
I know I can trust you
you're the one I can confide in
    I can always tell you
    when I've made a sin
    years will keep on passing
    only one at a time
    it'll be alright
'cause mom I know you're mine
you're the one I've looked up to
    since I was really small
    I know you'll catch me
    if ever I should fall
    'cause you're my mom
    and I love you so

A mother writes with pride of her daughter. She was born into a world "cruel and unkind", but her beautiful soul helps make the world just a little bit sweeter.

Poem About The Treasure Of A Daughter

In a world so cruel and unkind
A child is born with a heart full of gold
And a soul that can never be defined

Her beautiful eyes that bring out her sweet little face
    Can light up a room
That the whole world can embrace

    The brightness of her smile
    Brings joy to my life
And keeps my heart beating for miles and miles

As the days pass us by
My sweet little girl is starting to grow
And the memories we had I will always keep inside

The warm feelings that I feel when she's around
    Comfort my heart
And I'm glad of the treasure that I have found

To me she is my diamonds and pearls
That no one can take away
Because I will stand beside her until the destruction of this world

  22. 20. My Angel Is My Mother

    • By Breana D. Greathouse
    •  Published by Family Friend Poems February 2006

In this poem, a girl writes a tribute to her mother who is her angel in disguise.

My angel is a woman who walks upon the earth,
she shows me my potential and all that I am worth.
When I am sick she heals me and makes me feel all-better,
and makes sure that in times of need that we are all together.
When we get into all kinds of fusses in our life,
my angel comes out strong as a mother and a wife.
My angel has raised me to be good and kind,
and makes sure that I have a strong and intelligent mind,
    my angel is my guardian.
    my teacher and my friend,
but most of all my mother till the very end.
